Looks like a great lock. The mortise locking design will be a challenge at install time tho. FYI, you can disable the HomeKit notifications in the settings for the lock in HomeKit!
@notacarguy_au Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we've had it for a quite a while now and we really like it. It's been working great. I did work out that you could turn off the notifications in the Home app, but I've left them on as I kinda want them but not all the time. Not sure what I want there. 🤣 One thing I can't work out is how to turn off the "beep" when opening. I understand why you'd want that, but when I want to go out at 6am to the gym, I'd rather not wake up anyone in the house when I open the door to leave. I've looked through both the Aqata app and the Home app and I can't seem to work out if you can do that. 🤷🏻

Thanks for the informative video! 👍Been looking at this model, was wondering if your opinions about the door lock has changed since a year ago?
@notacarguy_auАй бұрын
Not at all, we still have it, still use it and still very happy with it. Only thing that I could say is that possibly having all the features may have been a bit of overkill. But, depending on our needs we still use the fingerprint, passcode and Apple Key. Though I use the Applekey function the most I think.

I own a model 3, and leaving my house without car keys has been a thing I’ve enjoyed. However I still need to bring my house keys with me, so this just seems like a no brainer for me in the future.

Totally agree. I shot this video about a week ago, so have had more time with it now. Still loving it. Also still not 100% used to just "walking out the door" with no keys. But getting used to it slowly and it's lovely.

Great work Lee. No need to apologise for non-Tesla product. Your skills are translatable to all gadgets. Would be great to see what you love about your new Ultra watch

Thanks Martin. I try not to talk about Apple stuff, if you think I am biased towards Tesla, OMG, I would be gushing embarrassedly about Apple gear. 😉. Having said that, one thing I would say about the Ultra is that it is noticeably heavier than previous Apple Watches and so if you're thinking of getting one. Be sure to try one on first and see if you don't mind the weight.

Hello, do you know if it is resistant to rain? I think I have read in the specifications that it is not resistant to rain, but I see that you have it installed on an exterior door. Is it still working correctly today despite having gone through very rainy and windy days?

I don't know, sorry and my example wouldn't help as yes it is outside, but it's undercover so it never gets rained on.

Thank you for the video. It was very thorough. Could you please let me know how loud the bell on the lock itself is? I'm considering whether I need a separate doorbell, as I'm aiming to eliminate the doorbell altogether and use the Eve Outdoor Camera instead. Your response will be much appreciated. Thank you!
@notacarguy_au3 ай бұрын
The doorbell is loud. At least loud enough for us to hear it in the house. We don’t actually use that doorbell as we’ve had a Ring for ages. But every now and then someone uses the locks bell instead and we still hear it. I think you’d be fine and worst comes to worst you could get louder bell later if it nots loud enough for your house.

Hi Thanks for the great review! do you find it to be noisy when unlocking & locking?
@notacarguy_au Жыл бұрын
It's not silent and would be nice to be able to turn off the "ding" when unlocking late at night. But no one has woken anyone else up when coming home at night. So I don't think it's too loud or an issue. Then again, I am a pretty heavy sleeper. 🤣

Hey there, Do you get the option of being able to use the HomePods as Doorbell Chime as well via HomeKit? Really great review btw!
@notacarguy_au Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. I don't think you can use the Homepods for the door chime. The options there seem quite limited in the App. Now I might be wrong, but I couldn't find it.
@rishik237 Жыл бұрын
@@notacarguy_au Thanks for your reply! :) Ahh that's a bummer, maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's firstly a lock rather than a doorbell hence it doesn't give you the option to use the HomePods as a chime. Idk I could be wrong. I was after the feature of being able to get a notification when the doorbell rings on my apple devices too, making it easier for everyone in the family. I guess I will probably go with the A100, and just keep my current hombridged doorbell! D100 look so much more elegant. If only the bell button light could be disabled.

Samsung locks were discontinued in most other countries over the world 2 years ago. Samsung is not compatible with Apple Homekey. DP609 is 4 years old technology, fingerprint sensor is far less accurate and quick than this D100

Are you required to use a proprietary app to set this up?
@notacarguy_au Жыл бұрын
Yes, but to be fair, that's how all these types of devices work. You need to use the Eufy app to setup Eufy stuff, the Ring app to setup Ring stuff. Once it's setup you can lock and unlock it via the Home app, but setup is done via the Aqara app. Also the options in the Home app aren't as wide as what you can do in the Aqara app.
@eclipseexpress5775 Жыл бұрын
Some of the in app features are useful. Say if you are traveling abroad but you asked a friend or neighbor to help you feed your pets. You can use the app to create an one time passcode to open your lock without revealing your regular passcode.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. I only ever unlock the door to open it. So the locks "recede" and then I push the door open, but I do still need to push the door to open it. I think that's what you're asking?

Can the doorbell be disabled? If you do, does the lit button turn off? I'm worried that even if I disable the doorbell, people will see that lit button and try to press it.
@notacarguy_au Жыл бұрын
That's a fair point. I had a look and I don't think you can turn it off. At least not that I can find. I don't think it's a huge issue. We've had the lock bout 3 weeks now and maybe 2 out of 30-40 people who have come to the door have used the lock bell instead of our "proper" one.
