I wanted a temp/humidity sensor with an onboard display. I'm not worried about the air quality bit, since I live in the tropics and windows and doors are open most of the time. For my use case, it works great, and wasn't too expensive for what I wanted to accomplish.

I am heavily invested in the Aqara ecosystem with a total of 56 devices. I have a G2 hub, two G1S hubs, five G2H camera hubs, and a G3 camera hub. I have a lot of temperature sensors, water leak sensors, contact sensors, motion sensors, and two smart buttons. I tried out the TVOC sensor and really wanted to like it. It was slow to respond, went "No Response" every other day and wouldn't reset (I have heard this was fixed in a firmware update), and not very accurate on room air quality. I ended up returning mine. I have an Eve Room on order and should be receiving it midweek. I will give it a test and see if that ends up being my go to for room air quality sensors.

You will need some version of an Aqara hub in order to integrate this device into HomeKit I’m afraid. Aqara’s E1 hub is the smallest and is powered via a USB which might be a good choice for you if space is an issue? Or perhaps the Eve Room might be a good alternative - Eve devices don’t need a hub and will monitor VOCs?
