Owning a Racing American Quarter Horse

Quarter Horse racing is so different from Thoroughbred racing, these horses blast out of the gate with all the power in those explosive hindquarters. These are horses that are designed for sudden and powerful speed; trying to keep up with fractious cows is what they were born for. I'd like to see more Quarter Horse races on KZbin.

Warren Richard was my Father he knew Everyone at the Track. If he were alive today He would enjoy this AQHA Video. Daddy was the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Executive Secretary. I just wanted to say Hello to Everyone working at the Track.

They were actually originally bred as cow horses, most of the best blood comes from cow horse lines, nim. But those amazing spurts of speed, that power that comes off the hindquarters, is bred into them. Aly, get a QH, they are the best! Fast, agile, intelligent, and just darned fun to own.

Actually quarter horses were bred to work cattle. My boy's are QH and are very cowy, just like my stockhorse they were bred to work cattle. These quarter horses in this video derive from QH that were bred to work cattle. So all in all the QH was bred to work cattle, but then after they were bred, they were mixed with more slender athletic horses to breed the "American QH race horse" :)
