We Couldn't Believe What We Found Metal Detecting!

Matt and I took a kayaking trip to metal detect a Civil War battle site. The day started with us finding relics with our metal detectors and ended with us finding a fantastic little honeyhole of battlefield relics. We think a wagon was pushed into the river at that spot because we found many of the heavy iron parts and hardware from a Civil War-era wagon there and immediately downstream.
As always this is a how to metal detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family friendly and hopefully a fun video.

That was certainly an awesome day out with those finds Chigg,..definitely a place worth returning to. I'd always be wondering,..who was it that carried those muskets,..did they get through the war and live to old age. Hidden treasures that'll always hold a secret. If only they could talk !!!

So Chigg? How much cheaper in implementation do you think the Civil War would have been if the combined armies of the north and south hadn't dropped any bullets? Is there an estimate on the number of found dropped bullets? I suppose it could include (or not) the ones used for starting campfires and making game tokens and sinkers.

Two Enfield rifled muskets, and an Enfield bayonet, 2 scabbard tips, 2 cartridge box sling eagle plates, and enough bullets to fill two cartridge boxes, and a canteen spout, you found almost two complete Infantry rigs right in that one spot, man that's amazing. That Schenkl round and time fuse was awesome !! There has to be more stuff there, what a day !!!

Wow you can just let your imagination run wild with what might have happened. You can see a whole unit of soldiers desperately trying to cross the river while undergoing a barrage of shelling and gunfire. Suddenly a shell exploads near a heavily laden wagon, the horses spook and the entire wagon overturns in the river. And 160 years later, Chigg comes along. Congrats Chigg. 😄👍

I love how Chig stays realistic and can experience joy from both huge finds and tiny finds. He spends an entire day and finds one nice button, he's happy. He spends an entire day digging and finds a musket, an artillery shell, and more, he's happy. As long as he's not skunked, he's happy. And even if he is skunked, he might still be happy cause it was a good adventure.

Chigg Master! When those rivers have been scanned over time after time over 160 years and many bullets found the man with the Golden ear for the sounds of certain irons! We’ve all heard him say it! That backpack is definitely a "shake and bake" meth making kit, pipe cutter to open batteries along with pliers. The old bottle is what they make it in, the campfuel is what they use in it. 100% meth making

Aloha Chigg & Matt! 2024-1864=160. That's how many years ago a crushed man bled to death in that spot; leaving behind all valued possessions. The blast was felt, the river turned red, friends couldn't stop but yelled and fled. Now forever later and his name forgotten, his rifle and buttons and bayonet rotten, as he stands in heaven with his loved ones, says "whew what a day!" I'd almost forgotten.
