Check out my new magnet fishing rig. I doubled up on the magnets and think it will be great once I find a decent spot. I did see some neat wildlife including a couple muskrats and even eyeballed a Civil War bullet and a couple of Indian points. (spear points or knife blades). Here is a link to the magnets that I used. They are very reasonable priced and the shipping won't set you back too much.

Visualize if you will for a moment a time in the future where you Chigg, are the head of an organization called "I Am The River Janitor". Imagine a flotilla of volunteers in kayaks you lead every weekend that are emblazoned with ' The River Janitors" on their sides, and everyone wearing the T-Shirt "I Am The River Janitor". Everyone magnet fishing and picking up old boat fenders and , nylon rope and what have you, making the whirled a moar better place. Ok now, you can stop visualizing.

At 43 years old, I'm not old at all, but I do have a bad back, so that bending over to pick things up is sometimes painful. Also, I have some tall shelves for storing the big packs of stuff we buy at Costco. Reaching up to the top shelf to get paper towels is made much easier by the bad-back-guy's grabbin stick, thank you very much. I happen to LOVE my grabbin stick. Best $20 I ever spent!

I have an idea, what if you hooked up a water proof security camera and attach it to the magnet, and had a live feed from the cam going to a small screen, you could search for stuff by eye then pick it up. may be even have a light attached to help you see better. A little advanced to setup but it could work!

Last time i tried doubling magnets... Well one was an earth magnet like the one you have but a bit smaller and the other was a regular magnet, the regular magnet actually flew out my hands and smashed into loads of pieces against the other and actually cut my hand (not badly but could have been a lot worse) so just goes to show how dangerous these things are

You're not doubling the strength, because one magnet is shielded from the other with steel. You can tell this by testing the attraction to the side with the steel housing and the bare magnet side. To double the strength, there can't be steel between the two magnets.

To keep your magnets from getting caught on something do this: Buy a plastic soda bottle the size of your magnet. Cut it off about 5 inches from the top. Drill a hole in the lid the size of your rope. Slide your rope thru the lid from the top to the opening. Tie on to your magnet then pull the rope and magnet up thru the bottle as far as possible. Cut off excess bottle so magnet is even with the bottle. Tie a knot on the top of the lid so it won't let the magnet slide back out. It will not get stuck again! HOPEFULLY! Good luck guys.👍✌

By stacking 2 or more magnets the effect on the total strength may be an increase of no more than a very few percent. This seems counterintuitive but things don't always work the way we want. For an explanation for the really interested is to phone your nearest university's Physics or Engineering department. Someone there can give you a full explanation. The only noticeable effective change is the loss of 2 magnets instead of one if they get snagged.
