This broom swept me away with it's ageless charm. What's particularly nice about this yacht is someone else has not had their way with her. Too often in the used boat market, there's that one guy, the owner which has taken it upon themselves to tackle the updates and mod.'s. The result being a boat that was a a classic vintage 1980's giving you an impression it's original build was in the 60's, and that it was ravished sometime in the 70's by a blind man in his 90's..

@@drxym That's going to depend entirely on how she was cared for. If she spent most of her life above Teddington she could be essentially a freshwater boat and that alone would make a massive difference. @cougarfan13413 жыл бұрын
If you're willing to negotiate it down some and keep the outdated interior, still a good buy. The interior is fine - it's pretty neutral and not teal & pink like a lot of the flash 80s boats. What really needs updating is the electronics, esp. navigation & radios. That alone is a lot of $$$. My guess is that with such low hours, probably needs a major engine service and lots of new rubber bits. Also the seacocks will need to be thoroughly checked. All of that is a priority over cosmetics.

Why anyone would choose a narrow river boat over this is beyond my comprehension. You get a two bed (london sized) flat with river and ocean capabilities. The amount of updates required makes me feel like £85k is a bit steep but not too far off. Nice vessel indeed!
@jaquigreenlees3 жыл бұрын
Do you have a tablet? You can get apps for tablets that will do the job nicely for chartplotters, changing the display for the radar would then be the only big upgrade needed. Adding a gps system that you can use for the chartplotter isn't a huge, costly addition. KZbin channel "Trying not to Sink" has a few videos where they go over working with tablets as their navigation system.

You'd still be cheaper off.

I love the aft-cabin layout, but there don't seem to be many new ones. Haines being an exception. The upsides seem to be more accommodation and central engine placement for better weight distribution. But what are the downsides to an aft-cabin layout?
@AQUAHOLIC3 жыл бұрын
The biggest issue is for manufacturers who have to expensively fit out the entire length of the boat with an interior, yet new boat buyers value predominantly on length, so they don't get to charge much more if any than an aft cockpit boat.
@etc-and-more3 жыл бұрын
As obvious from this video, access to engines and other systems is pretty poor - there is a lot of stuff going on below decks other than the engines - tanks, water pumps, waste pumps/systems, steering gear, various tanks, air conditioning condensor, generator and various through hull fittings that need to be looked at. Also you lose any type of lazarette for storage since your bed is taking up that space.

Huge amount of space and boat for that money compared to the crazy price of a new 40 footer. Would probably be possible to do quite a bit of modernisation to taps and light fittings etc and upholstery for c £20k. £100k for a floating cottage on the Thames looks cheap!
@jamesellsworth96733 жыл бұрын
One cautionary observation: the fine condition of the interior speaks to long-ownership and little use. Spending the money is one thing; having time or inclination for yachting can be something else. A boat like this can be taken two ways: classic restoration or resto modding. The hull needs a good refurbishment. Full modernization of the electrics seems in order. It does seem a new owner would have a fine platform from which to begin. Once modernized, it might be a shame to keep such an able boat on a river.
