Just a bit squishy is all. The 64 is a better size and the front walkthrough is brilliant, but the layout of this 500 can't be beaten. The Galeon 64 in 2020 has a separate guest suite access - which is a waste of valuable space.
@BucsFTW2 жыл бұрын
Ah, a 50-footer... My personal fav in terms of realistic owner/operator size and relatively realistic affordability (for me personally). Being a retired older guy, I have the luxury of watching (and re-watching) your vids as often as I please. That said - the Galeon 500 has claimed the #1 spot in my heart for my personal favorite! It would be different if Galeon just added a feature or two that was 'new' to the industry, but NOooo... It seems like Galeon had a catalogue of cool, innovative ideas squirreled away, and they wanted them ALL to shine in this model. For me, personallly, I knew something was up when you just blew by the Aft Cockpit. Especially when I could see the 'curved portion' of teak beneath the seating, but I'm thinking 'engine access' - at that point! The aft doors (brilliantly stacked btw) invite us into a beautiful living area, but the port side being opened up grabs one's eye immediately. Then we get to see the operation of the same feature on the starboard side, and our mind is blown (yet again)! It wasn't enough that Galeon created a cozy little spot for two, but the tiny little stainless steel 'support' that drops down (to support the pad below your thighs) is actually VERY ergonomic...! Without it - best you could get would be a place to kind of 'lean against' - not truly sit down to enjoy a cocktail. The Main Saloon... I just love the soft, creamy colors contrasted by the well-appointed darker wood trim. Very clever (and stylish) headboard treatment in the VIP Cabin. Galeon's abundance of indirect lighting, coupled with fit & finish that looks hard to beat make this gal a beauty...! As quirky as it may seem, I think the smartest 'detail' Galeon incorporated is their use of a lighter, contrasting wood at EVERY location you need to put your hand in order to open said drawer, door, or storage area. So simple, yet so damned smart...!!! The fact that Galeon would spend the money to equip the vessel with a true 'access panel', versus a more typical panel of the same substrate with 2 hinges and a latch slapped on. HUGE indictor of the inherint quality the boat is constructed with. Door hardware, with no toungue to catch things on, coupled with gasketed doors to each cabin... Now you're just showing off Galeon...! "Yacht drunk" much Nick 'ol boy...?!? LMAO. We love it when your enthusiasm for a boat causes you to do things like...... miss and ENTIRE friggin' Ensuite...?!? I chortled. The feature that closed escrow for me is the 'Lazy Susan' Aft Cockpit seating...!!! I'd bet dollars-to-donuts that almost every big-name yacht manufacturer copies this, going forward. Why wouldn't they? Sometimes, you want to 'tie the 2 areas together' (Aft Cockpit & Main Saloon), but more often than not I would have it facing 'backwards' as often as possible! Absolutely love the Garage...! Looks like a perfect place for 3-4 Seabobs to me (tender 'in tow', jetski on the platform). "Got Toys?" Mic drop. The nerd in me would have 'receptacle sockets' (or something of the sort) on the Hi-Low platform to allow for seating for 2 with a cocktail table in between. Drop Balconies... Just soooo cool! The wind screen... A complex cambered curve, with NO center mullion? That's just sexy right there! And then there's the 'typical' C-shaped seating area at the bow. Same 'ol, same 'ol, right? WRONG. The backrests 'detach', which is brilliant in and of itself. And the 'side benches' are sloped for sunning? Wait, what? Okay... that's pretty cool right there. "But wait, there's more..." They also slide on tracks to give incredibly flexible means of egress, depending on your particular needs at the time...? My mind is officially blown! GREAT location for the grill too... No smells of food inundating the boat for HOURS after the meal is long gone. The Fly Bridge is where I would spend the majority of my time on this beauty. Just perfect. C'mon Burnham... Tighten up man! (You failed to point out the cool blue LED lights scattered all over the Fly Bridge!) Yup... she's my Number #1...! Thanks for another brilliant tour Nick.

Nice review, you should start a channel as you're obviously very enthusiastic - I'd watch it!! And I totally agree with you, this is perfect for the owner/operated size. Me too! Almost every boat I look at I compare to this - it is just fantastic in every way. I've seen bigger more expensive boats that feel cramped in the cockpit, master or fly compared to this. Also I did think about reliability in terms of all the moving parts, but when it comes down to it, it is really just hydraulics and switches, which is tried and tested engineering...... Absolutely beautiful. And you're right- the level of inventiveness is quite astonishing. A layout for all occasions. Those fold down balconies and window openings are a particularly nice touch. You really do have to continually remind yourself that it's a 50' boat. Nice catch with the owner's cabin en-suite. But you also missed the footage of you measuring the stern to calculate what size font you could use to fit in SMUGGLER'S BLUES III.

One thing to add is the cockpit has three layouts : sunpad with full sized tender garage, rotational seating with half sized tender garage (the option this model has) and a L-shaped seating with crew cabin. Very flexible.

Hi Nick. You were like a kid in a sweet shop with this one!!! Not seen you this animated for a long time 😎 A great value boat for the price. Nice retro high gloss woodwork too. Now there is a BUT coming 🙄 all that innovative gizmos has the disadvantage of breaking down and if offshore then,......😠. In spite of it being a rear deck level galley if the lottery came up I would splash out on it. Cheers DougT

@@DrCrabfingers and just think in a busy marina/port you would need a premium with berth to use those drop down balconies 😬 but for the price its a good value boat.

One of the best designed boats I have seen you review. Love all the extra clever touches they have added.

I am a boat lover & had boat since I was 19 , that’s like probably 45 years ago and right now I own a 70 feet Powerboat I always watch different brokers, trying to sell boats on KZbin and listen how different brokers trying to describe what they have to sell . I just want to tell you that you are a true best describer of whatever it is that you’re trying to sell and to me you are really a “salesman and a half “ when it comes to selling boat

You're very kind (although I'm not actually a salesman 🙂)

Falling in love much Mr. Nick? We surely did! Thank you for yet another mind-blowing yacht tour and for keeping us entertained for 31,58 min straight! That was not a tour. It was art! P.S. So today is the day that you stopped waiving? What a surprising turn of events…

I've seen all of your boat tours from day one but I've not seen a boat to top this regardless of size, so many clever ideas and the quality comes across in your video. No doubt the one or two things I'd suggest as changes would be covered by options. You could have done your customary wave to camera in the woodwork too 😉

This is the most versatile boat in this length that I have seen on these channels. So many tech features on this boat love the deck that goes into the water, the tender garage and master bedroom. I could actually see myself on a boat like this.
