Aqualand Artist Interview with John Petrie, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2023

Australian artist and Recipient of the Aqualand Sculpture Award John Petrie talks about his sculpture ’23.5º’. When determining how the upper boulder would rest on the lower one, the angle of the Earth’s axis, 23.5º, came to the artists mind. The sculpture is a meditation on this phenomenon and brings together the rugged boulder terrain of The Great Dividing Range and the refined aesthetic I was exposed to when living in Japan. The work is exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2023
