Great to see an innovation attempt. Whether it will be actually useful and practical remains to be seen.

Agree.

@M.M.M.M.M890 im all about innovation IF it actually gives good benefits. Or if there is a problem or question that can be remedied through an innovation. Sadly too many "inovations" are in reality just gimmicks.

As someone new to diving and a big tech nerd, this is pretty interesting kit.

I am VERY hesitant since each component is proprietary. Much the same way apple is. I think its a fancy gizmo for those searching for trendy tech gadgets. New divers may get sucked into it without realizing there are better options for less money

Yes, that could be an issue. Perhaps the prize will keep new divers off.

I won’t be an early adopter. I agree will all your concerns: expensive maintenance/repairs (possibly compounded by not having local skills to make repairs), being locked into the Aqua Lung world for everything, and I don’t love having your primary life support system being so reliant on electronics. Im sure they’ve thought about this, but the benefits don’t seem to outweigh the negatives. More advanced tech isn’t always a good thing. I’ll let other divers do all the beta testing to let AL work out all the bugs. I remember something from early last year that was supposed to be the future of diving. I think it somehow replaced your BCD and used your tank to control buoyancy. Anyone remember what that technology was?

Aqualung Aquasense sounds interesting. Would be nice to have help with breathing performance. I agree I will need more details on what happens if the battery dies does the regulator continue working normally. I would also like to know how easy the hoses length and maintenance can be performed. Concerned if they are proprietor hoses would be concerning if you have an issue on a trip and need a replacement.

Good points. So many unknowns and the system lock-in I see as a big issue.

I wondering what it does that a computer with transmeter doesn't?
@jaketschida701619 күн бұрын
It is interesting, but I think it is too much technology to depend on when you are under. It is one thing to have transmitter for your air supply, but to have A.I. built into your first and second stage we are going to see more dive injuries because they depended too much on it. Also, it would suck if you were just about to start a dive and your system locks you out because it needs a firmware update. Thank you for the video!

Ha ha, yes, i Right before the dive you get the message: “Update time remaining: 54 minutes “

I could see this being really useful for vacation dive centers or instructors, but probably too gimmicky for a personal setup. Like it could be helpful for DMs to at a glance see issues with divers (not everyone has developed perfect instincts to catch every problem), or for instructors to have data to talk about with their students.

Good point! Though, the cost of the whole unit might hold most dive centers back.

a regulator with built in electronics-that sounds like a problem waiting to happen....at an extreme cost for both initial purchase and annual service...
