This is where Aquaman became a character that was just there for me (for so long I couldn't shake the Super Friends cartoon incarnation of him) and became a top comic character of the comic pantheon for me. And seeing him in the Justice League Animated Show in addition to this version of him, absolutely a top tier fav. This is easily top 3 most anticipated releases for me and waiting on my copy to arrive!!! Like regardless of if you enjoy Peter David's run here or not, but I feel it was NEEDED to get Aquaman to be something so much more, and I feel opened the floodgates for the likes of Geoff Johns to have his own take and the pretty successful first Aquaman Live Action movie (I loved it). Now I just need an Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis Omnibus, and I suppose the rest of the New 52 Aquaman, since the Geoff Johns Omnibus (obviously) just collects his run.

The 13 issue run by Shaun McLaughlin that directly preceded this run also sets up events in PAD's run. Characters like King Thessily, Iqula and Iqula's wife were introduced in McLaughlin's run. There's even a scene in #12 where Vulko hands Arthur the Atlantis Chronicles, leading straight into Time & Tide. Hopefully we get a DC Finest that collects this run in the future. Oh, and Egeland is pronounced "EEG-LAND".

Nice shout out for Ookla the Mok! The song in question is from their first album, Less Than Art, and from the song Arthur Curry, which is a song from the POV of Arthur, lamenting that he doesn’t get the same elevated importance as his comic counterparts. I wish the Atlantis Chronicles were collected as well, but man that would've been the thickest Omni ever. But those issues were so critical in the Atlantis backstory. Great omni, will someday pick it up. Still reading the New 52 one by Johns. Thanks for the video Omar!

Aquaman has always been my second favorite superhero. I remember liking him before it was cool. I always told folks the guy could command marine life. Do you know how OP that ability is? I am happy that the DCEU and more recent media have given him more attention( I’m super excited to see Jeremy Adams take on him) but Peter David’s run to me is easily my second favorite run of the character. The Atlantis chronicles in particular I argue is his best work.

Ugh, I'm guess I'm in the minority, but I always thought this was the worst Aquaman run ever. The worst of the 90s-horrible, horrible artwork, smug, silly writing from Peter David . The harpoon hand alone is just such a stupid idea. Hard pass. But in reading the comments, I'm happy for everyone who's excited with this release. It's just not for me.
