When it comes to prospecting for gold and gems in Western Australia, I can't give exact locations as there are many rules and regulations governing where you can and can't go. Unfortunately when some people see these locations on a public forum, some do the wrong thing and make it difficult for gaining future access to some of these sites. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz
@Sphoxros5 жыл бұрын
No prospector in they're right mind would tell you where they are finding what they are, its a bad idea and one that could cost you a LOT of money should someone come in and steal material off your claim. In other words, don't bother asking, 9 out of 10 times your either be told the wrong location or not at all.

This is a wonderful video and most enjoyable indeed. It brings back memories as a young child in the late 1970's when I was given a beautiful parcel of intense blue aquamarine from WA. They were heavily flawed but all glassy and transparent.. The most divine intense blue. There were also glassy green beryls of a fluorite colour. Sold them on eBay a couple of year's for quite good prices as well but I really regret now as I probably will never come accross any like them again. I'll never forget that rich glassy blue. Some things are just too beautiful to sell. Thanks for sharing.

what makes a beryl an emerald is the ore. when a beryl forms on chromium it takes on a green hue and is therefore considered emerald. most of these are probably aquamarines, unless you see some shiny metal bits on them

I'm going to Australia from Japan at the end of next month, and will be doing paid sapphire Fossicking at Ruby Vale in QLD. Therefore, this route will take us from Brisbane via Rockhampton to Ruby Vale, and return via Chinchilla to the Gold Coast. Therefore, could you please tell me the points where I can easily search for gems around this route as it is OK for a fee? However, Mt Hay's Thunder Egg and Chinchilla's Petrified Wood have been used in the past, so they are excluded. If possible, the target rough stone should be a rough stone that can be cut into gemstones, such as garnet or aquamarine.
@LizKreate Жыл бұрын
Sorry to just see this comment. Unfortunately for fossicking/gem hunting....November & December through February is the wrong time to go in these locations as the weather is too hot and wet in some parts. This is why we only go in winter to these locations. For your situation, maybe try looking into the Inverell, Glenn Innes area in NSW for precious gemstones. Look online for information to these areas. Please see link below to get you started. Cheers, Liz www.newellhighway.org.au/route39/fossikers-way/

Interesting..JTV sells what they refer to as emerald jewelry..but the stones that you call beryl are the ones they call Zambian emerald because of their solid color..no translucent.. great place. In the part of the netherlands where I live its really hard to find some spots like these, and at most of the beaches with bedrocks everyrhing is covered with tar so its hard to find crystals that have been left by nature, but we have lots of spots where they fill up iron carcasses with a shit load of big raw stones, defenitely 1/3 of them contain crystals but these are owned by the town, the governing people of our town. So I could make myself at home and take some of the stones but then im still exceeding the law 😅 but they also dump a lot of these stone & sand mixtures next to or at entrances of forests so there is much to find but you'd have to find out for yourself where to look before you can just pick a day to start gem hunting

Liz, I enjoyed watching your excitement in finding the green beryl crystals. Did you know you could recrystallize them into gem quality emeralds? Well, it appears you collected enough to do it. I collected several buckets of similar beryl crystals from a pegmatite deposit in New Hampshire in the early 1980's and learned with heat, pressure, a seed crystal, vanadium and chromium for color, then gem quality emeralds could be grown. Too bad beryllium is so toxic and the Russians beat me to the process and flooded the market.. Emeralds are still my favorite gem, regardless. Love your excitement!

Liz, I once had a cockatiel who I raised from being newly hatched. Fed him baby cereal and other stuff, I have forgotten the recipe. Anyway, he was the love of my life. He would whistle at me when I dressed up, said a few words, whistled Yankee Doodle Dandy. He would take rides on my little long haired Chihuahua and groom her. He would sit on the edge of my dinner plate and we would feed each other. He did this until one day he jumped feet first into my plate of hot spaghetti. That burned his little feet and I had to put burn salve on him. Sammy was his name, sorry. Sammy was on the shoulder of my now ex-husband during dinner and the ex, for some reason decided, during dinner to step outside and Sammy took off.!! He was gone for about a week when my daughter heard his whistle up in a big tree. I made my husband drive his truck to the tree and with a long ladder and a net got him safely. But Sammy was never the same after being gone that long with our resources and passed away. I and my daughter were terribly heartbroken. I live in the country so we can bury our pets. I have many cats, dogs, lizards and birds buried there. So he is still close to me. I love the way you two interact with Pedro. Thank you for sharing.! 😍🇺🇸
