That is a magnetic stirring hot plate. Inside the beaker of solution is a small magnetic stir bar that spins when you turn on the unit.

Screw that lemi shine and some dawn liquid let them tumble and they will be just as shiny

Tim, Products like Lemi Shine and dish soaps do work nicely in conjunction with rotary tumblers on a small scale for at home reloading. For example, someone could spin 5lbs of brass ( about 350 .223 casings ) at a time for anywhere from an hour to an entire day in their garage tumbler and get decent enough results. On the other hand, Aquapolish scales up and is limited only by the users investment. A process line in the metal finishing industry has the capability to process over 40,000 .223 shell casings every ten minutes. Brass casings are just one of the many candidates for Aquapolish. If someone wanted to chemically clean and polish a full size tuba, I most definitely would not recommend the use a rotary tumbler.
