I have some coffee seedlings if you want to try growing your own cup of coffee. They are second or third generation grown from seed in Yamanto conditions so they should adapted enough be happy enough up the road where you are. As to exactly what type, I have no idea, the original ancestor plant may have even been seeded by a fruit bat.

I built a system based off of Larry Halls years ago it was a double bucket system, with a float connected to after ibc container that kept. i did set it with a little gap of 1/2 inch in the net cup below the bucket. I did both soil in the net cup and coconut coir, soil in the bucket. the net cups with the coir wicked better and in the end I went with just coir

This is awesome. I'm in the process of planning a one acre garden build a little like this in the U.S.. I'm building a 4 ft deep by 4 foot wide by 150 long rill (pond) that will hold tilapia and channel catfish depending on season. The water will then travel through smaller deep water rills (similar to what you mentioned) to feed flower beds and vegetable gardens throughout the garden. The layout will be formal and country. All filtration (solid wast, biofilter) will be built into the system in a way to look natural. This will be open to the public and all plants and produce will be sold at a little store on the property. Excavator is scheduled to start digging in three weeks. Thanks the video.

Would love to know how the system works for you once it's up & running.

This is awesome! I've been watching a lot of Hoocho's videos lately and trying to incorporate some of his ideas into my aquaponic system. The wicking seems awesome, but on it's own, I don't think it would actually remove nutrients from the water without removing the water as well, so I'm planning some sort of a combination of a dual root zone system with the soil zone being watered through a wick and the aquaponic zone in an NFT.
@RobsAquaponics3 жыл бұрын
I have the same thoughts MF. 👍 Hope the build grow swell for you.

Outstanding video Collab!!! I've been stuck on moving forward with one or the other systems and this video opened up the possibilities wide open. Thank you Rob Bob and, Hoocho as well for more inspirations!!! I'm betting this video goes viral!!! God Bless to both and to your families!!! What medium was used in the Net-cups for the uptake of the nutrient solution and how is the cup screened from losing its medium into the nutrient channel?

I've been playing around with the Dutch buckets and I've found they are turning out great for things like tomato's and egg plants. I'm also running a raspberry bush that's growing great in a very large bucket. i think my next project might be a float box system. id like to see a comparison on hydro vs aquaponics

Rob, Been following your channel for a while and really appreciate you putting this video together to show the comparison and other options for outdoor growing. I wanted to see if you could piggyback off of another one of your videos regarding nutrients and supplementing. I have an indoor system, in my basement, where I grow greens, herbs, and peppers. One of the challenges is detecting iron, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus deficiencies BEFORE they show up on leaves. I feel like there are good tests out there and plenty of articles on this, but am biased to your methods of addressing these sorts of things. You had been experimenting with some fertilizer and I was wondering if you found something effective to dose the system to help with these macro nutrient deficiencies as well as something else for micro nutrient deficiencies. For the home hobbyist, some of these supplements can get quite expensive, but I am eager to know if you have other methods to addressing these in advance. Thanks for your consideration and quality videos!
@RobsAquaponics3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yazen. I haven't done any nutrient tests on the system water for a while yet so I'm not sure if the minerals I've added have helped much. I am still seeing a few deficiencies (like iron & magnesium) come through from time to time. I have seen the price of some of the packs you can buy & I couldn't afford to add all that's recommended either so I think I'll be looking more towards compost & worm casting teas down the line.
@ysleem903 жыл бұрын

Hey Rob I am from India and I heard that Jade Perch is a high Omega 3 fish. Could you please make a taste review video of the Jade Perch (we don't get it here in India) Does it taste too oily like Asian carps or does it taste like sea fishes. ? Secondly does it have too many long sharp bones ? I wish we had this Omega 3 fish in India... Thanks.
@RobsAquaponics3 жыл бұрын
Hi Morning Sky. It is an oily fish but doesn't taste like ocean fish. I can't compare it to Asian carp sorry as I haven't tried it myself sorry. No bones in the fillets. If you are after a commercial quantity I know a hatchery here that can send some over once you get the paperwork sorted on your end. Hope that helps some.
