Late to the party, but thank you for this. I'm new and just setting up my planted tanks. I was looking at the 10 gallon tank I just finished, thinking to myself "that black background just makes things look sad and depressing." Glad to see there is another, affordable option.

Great video. I have black poster board on the back of my acrylic tanks because of the depth.
@TheWaterBox5 жыл бұрын
You can always just layer it to cover the depth but they got some lengthy ones you can buy
@madfishdiva5 жыл бұрын
The Water Box i might give that a try. I love the clean look of the frost as oppose to painting. Plus you can change it up.

Is there anything like this film that I can put on the aquarium floor to make my barebottom floor look white like sand ? Thnks
@TheWaterBox4 жыл бұрын
Probably, if you look around but you won't get much of a 3D look. There'd be no texture to the look of it. IF you do want something more better looking, try stone tiling you use for floors, it'll cost more though.

Thanks very helpful.. and what kind of light would you suggest to create sunset like background? Thanks again!!
@TheWaterBox4 жыл бұрын
No problem! Just get an led light they sell cheaply on amazon. Or a strip if you have a large tank. I'm not sure how big of a tank you have so it depends on that.

What are you thoughts on using car window tint for background?

It's basically the same thing. It's window film.

If I die and go to he'll, my job there will be to put these frosted backgrounds on aquariums. Impossible to line up, water everywhere, and when I finally got it to work and looking good, it looked like hell when I put water in it. Tiny little air bubbles show up everywhere, and if you have thick 10mm glass, the bubbles look like cracks in the glass.
@LPH-114 жыл бұрын
Great video and info! My issue is my aquarium is already set up and I want to change the background to a frosted or white. I was hoping you were going to show how to change it on an already set up tank. I guess it would be the same but less room to work. Thanks for the info!
@TheWaterBox4 жыл бұрын
You got it. It's the same. If you can't move the tank, it might be a tight fit to get it on.

is there any films that will block uv light to prevent algae growth? im planning my first tank but the only spot I have is directly in front of a window. I know this spot isn't ideal but is it doable with a film?
@TheWaterBox4 жыл бұрын
I've never tried or even looked into if that would help control algae growth. Sorry.

I've just apply it to my nano tank. The problem that I have is small micro bubbles of after the application. Even if I scrap off all the water after the application. Is that normal? Thank you for your great content by the way 👍
@TheWaterBox4 жыл бұрын
You probably didn't soak the surface enough before applying the film. Just peel it off and start over. That's the great thing about background films.
@impossibull93715 жыл бұрын
Hey! I've never done anything with aquariums but im wanting to get into them, im starting off with a 10 gallon tank and I am wondering how many fish should I keep in the tank? Also do you have to do lots of work to take care of live plants?
@TheWaterBox5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the fish you're keeping that the setup you have. It doesn't take that much more work if you stick with easy low light plants as I figured you don't have planted lighting or substrates for plants. Watch my beginners guide to planted tanks series. It'll go over everything you need to know.
