Absolutely hit the nail on the head with cichlids. Mine seem to love cruising through your anubias, every other plant I tried got destroyed with the exception of anacharis, but it was constantly floating.

Aponogeton boivinianus and goldfish are a great combination. I bought a couple bulbs from you about a year ago and they look magnificent.

Dustin, your videos have helped me a great deal as I have returned to the hobby that I love after 5 years, due to health issues. I'm trying the dirted method in my 38g tall before moving on to create a heavily planted 6ft 135g community tank and in the summer I start on the 8ft planted, semi monster fish 320g that was gifted to me. I have already started welding my stand, light supports and industrial strength roller supported Sump base, for ease of maintenance. I love plants, especially in my tanks and you have been a great source of information and inspiration while researching these past few years.Thank you, from a northern subscriber. 🇨🇦

I rock anubias, amazon swords, crinum, crypt wendtii, java fern narrow leaf and limnophilia sessiliflora in my discus tank. I also have ludwigia super red which does well but bottom leaves come off

Awesome video. I have a goldfish tank with a lot of crypts and red tiger lotus that the fish do not bother. The key for me was realizing that the fish had to be okay with the location of the plants, otherwise they pulled them up.

I know this is years old but I have a heavily planted discus aquarium, with all plants from your site. I have 2 large Amazon sword plants that are directly propagated from a plant I bought from you but had to rehome because it got too big. I also would like to add jungle Val to the herpes list, the stuff is out of control! I had other plants, cabomba, dwarf sag and some ludwigia but the Val chocked it all out. You are correct African cichlids make short work of it, after I get done ripping out monster handfuls of if from my discus tank I throw it in with my Mbuna, and they go nuts. I tried to video this and show the remaining Val what is coming for it if it keeps up but that plant is a gangster and just doesn’t ever stop. Mbuna do leave my Anubias alone, I have nana and broadleaf, and one of them even flowered over the summer. Planning on going high tech in My discus tank this year so I’ll be making a big order. Currently surfing your site for ideas actually.

Hygro polysperma but not the basic one it's got colored vainy leaves. Can't remember it's name but really nice. With angels

Anubias didn't work in my cichlid tank they just ate the new leaf shoot. Didn't touch the old leaf but as soon as the new one came on it was lunchtime. The plant lasted awhile in the tank but it didn't thrive.

My cichlids just chewed through Anubias. Not necessarily eat but just leave them to bits.

I loaded a tank with duck weed for my goldfish hoping it would produce faster than they would eat it. Nope little devils ate every bit in 24hrs. They don't eat my jungle val though.
