It's so comforting to see someone so experienced using similar budget lights, and using similar techniques! I keep my planted tank lights on for 12-14 hours and I get great growth and color in my low-tech tanks!

My shrimp are red and blue mixed, and I get some really pretty blue shrimp with pink stripes down their back! I also just want a lot of happy shrimp, not the most pretty. I just think they are neat!

If you use your heatgun to warm the paint before scrapping it off it makes it so much easier

I do the same with my HOBs, but also put some small bits of Biohome media for bacteria in the section where the water wells up round the inlet.

Was wondering where you bought the three filter media sponges that you cut up. Bet that is a time and money saver to buy in bulk. Currently setting up a river bed tank with mazanita wood and dark colored substrates. Keep up the amazing work!

For easy paint removal, soak the surface with soapy water first and let it sit for a few minutes. I discovered this method by accident as in " I didn't want the paint to peel off the back, I just wanted to wash the tank".

Try acrylic paint, it peels off really well.

I have the black Discus hoodie, and I love it! I would definitely order 1 size larger than you think you'll need though. The large was quite tight on me, I'm 6 ft 2 and was 210lbs at the time. Now that I'm down to 186 it fits much better, but still a little snug for my taste. Still wear it all the time though! 😁

You don't really need all three foams in a small hob. Coarse and medium grade will do just fine. Or do medium and fine. Either way it's better to have two foams then three. All three foams block flow of water and even at the start of the setup you have a lot of bypass. I would use two foams and leave dimples on for greater contact surface area.

I got a glass shrimp feeding dish but my 8 Cory’s love it. They actually all pile in and sleep in it. So when I try to feed my shrimp, the Cory’s gobble up all the food. Hoping the shrimp get a bit more pushy once they realize that’s where the treats are.

Ok I'm new to the hobby and am preparing to style and fill my first tank. I have all the supplies. However I'm getting mixed messages: cycle a tank for 8-12 weeks before adding shrimp vs this gentleman who addeded them the same day! I was told that would shock the shrimp and stress them out and possible kill a few/bunch -even when drip acclimated. "Because you want to give the tank an opportunity to build biofilm or beneficial bacteria over all the surfaces, allow the plants to establish a root system, and to balance out ALL the minerals in the water, not just carbonate hardness and general hardness." -a different KZbinr. I don't care which way is right and wrong I just don't want to lose any of these Neos! Some of them are $30 a pop! 😓

I Started the shrimp hobby at the end of December and since then I had multiple deaths. This time I bought 5 shrimp at petco in el paso on Fri 5th and one is pregnant, i keep the house at 66 to 69 with a sponge filter. I have test strips which I been testing with tetra and my numbers are 0 all except nitrates which are low as you can see and it's been Consistent in this new tank setup . I use prime 2 drops in a one gallon with stability 5 drops. I have hornewort with cholla wood. The only new thing I added after 1 rencent death was cappta leaves and I also threw in a sungrow rock with calcium and Magnesium Ive included pics because i dont know if its stress or disease they are dying from . I'm assuming they have white on there nostrum. Please help The yellow is berried and the blue on rocks is not looking so good . They have been eating since I got them and not darting or odd behavior.

He heats his fish rooms to the right temp instead of individual tanks, like a lot of keepers who have full on fish rooms. Less chance for heater failures this way.
