My rotala HRA is not growing tall , it's just growing horizontal what to do ?
@TropicaAquariumPlants Жыл бұрын
Hi Rehana. If your Rotala H'ra is growing horizontally rather than vertically, there could be several reasons why: 1. Insufficient lighting: Rotala H'ra requires moderate to high lighting to grow well. If your aquarium lighting is not strong enough, it can cause the plant to grow horizontally to reach the light source. Consider increasing the intensity and duration of your aquarium lighting. 2.Low CO2 levels: Rotala H'ra also benefits from supplemental carbon dioxide (CO2) injection, which helps it grow faster and more vertically. Low levels of CO2 can cause the plant to grow horizontally or wither. Consider increasing your CO2 injection or adding a liquid carbon supplement. 3.Nutrient deficiency: A lack of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and iron can cause Rotala H'ra to grow slowly or horizontally. Ensure that your aquarium has a balanced fertilizer regimen and that the water parameters are within the acceptable range for these plants. 4.Trimming technique: When trimming Rotala H'ra, it's important to cut the stem at a 45-degree angle to promote vertical growth. Cutting the stem too close to the substrate can cause it to grow horizontally.

Why add the fertilizer immediately before the water change? Wouldn't that just waste the ferts?

When you trim stem plants, does the only the top half (that’s replanted) keep growing, or does the bottom half continue to grow as well?
@TropicaAquariumPlants3 жыл бұрын
Hey Alec. They both develop independently, thus both halfs will grow.

The parameters to track are unfortunately quite extensive, it can be the light, the water the lack of nutrients (co2 included)... the evaluation happens on a case by case basis

When cutting stem plants, has anyone experienced brown diatoms taking over the cut stem? In my tank it seems to leave the stem which I have cut and replanted alone, but within a day or two will pretty much take over the original stem from which the cutting was taken?
@TropicaAquariumPlants4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura. We haven't experienced it yet...it is indeed a strange occurrence, try to do it in clean water right after a big water change. It's hard to pin point the reason behind it in absence of more details.

Great video. These Oase Aquariums Are a cut above the others. So beautifully built and given the quality of the highline lighting, which really comes from the more expensive range, they are quite a bargain. However, I have had no success with the internal filters and swapped it out for a Biomaster. Is there a planting schedule somewhere for this particular tank? Also, what CO2 concentration do you need for this type of planting? Many thanks for these brief and highly informative videos.
@TropicaAquariumPlants4 жыл бұрын
Hi Philip. In terms of CO2 concentration we are around 20mg/l but it depends on your water parameters and how your plants react to the conditions; we always recommend to adjust the values based on your aquarium. When it comes to planting schedule, George is a spontaneous free mind thus no spreadsheet will keep him at bay; it's advised to do it right before a water change.

Hi I want to ask if you could get stem trimmings from emersed plants then directly plant it in a submerged state will they survive or just rot and die?
@TropicaAquariumPlants3 жыл бұрын
Hi Francis. It is normally better to have strong roots before you submerge a plant. The best would be to allow the stem to develop roots before you submerge it.

Hiii the new mwthod of planting in plant mass where it is just suspended? Is this applicable to all stem plants? I tried doing it in the past but they just kept floating off or theyll float off after a few days. Is there a proper way to do it? Thank you so much
@TropicaAquariumPlants4 жыл бұрын
Hi Elisha. Good question and an interesting technique. We'd advise against trying it on all stem plants as most plants prefer to eventually root into soil (unless they're floating); additionally the result might not be the best as roots will start developing covering up the healthy adjacent plants.
@randomthings924974 жыл бұрын
@@TropicaAquariumPlants i see :) thank you so much for the reply 😊 as for that Ludwigia used, about how far away is it from the substrate? I am so sorry for the numerous questions as this really spiked my interest
@TropicaAquariumPlants4 жыл бұрын
No worries about the questions load. In this case they're about 2-3 cm from the soil but there's no rule of thumb about it; as long as you can fit them somewhere and hide the fact that they're suspended from the main point of view it's alright.
