That most plants can be trimmed and replanted to get more. You don't have to buy a tank full to start. Followed by C02 being unnecessary for the most part.

Help! I have an issue with my mature tank. For six months I can't maintain a "clean" tank everything gets overtaken by brown dust/slime thing. I do tests often. Always no ammonia, no nitrites, low nitrates and low phosphates. ph 7,5 and GH 17. No plants want to grow because this brown stuff covers them within a week. I have neocaridina shirmp and pinocchio shrimp but they arent helping. How do I get rid of this brown stuff? I even have two filters on. One designed for 250l size tank + one sponge filter. It's 64 litres cube.
@lemonlizard1 Жыл бұрын
@@bqgin could the issue be light? If there are no nutrients, then light would usually be the cause of algae

I'm still new, so thank you for this video. It's a great reminder that I shouldn't compare my aquascape abilities to the pros. It's good to have goals, but it's important to recognize the personal growth with each attempt. Even when I fail, I learn.

Even pros don't have their tanks looking always nice like when they take a photo for AGA contest, be it algae issues, floating plant leaves...

Just purchased all my plants from you! They came looking green and healthy. I did my own work. Looks great. Bought two plants first from a commercial pet store they did not live. I won’t use co2, need just a easy tank. So far great next month I will put the fish in.

I have learned more about chemistry from fish keeping and planted tanks than I EVER learned (and retained) in school. My advice is use the amazing planted tanks you see as an end goal, but, start small. To piggy back on his car analogy. When you were learning to drive, you didn't jump in a Formula 1 or NASCAR. You likely drove around an empty parking lot for a bit. Start with one or two beginner plants. Keep them (and the fish) alive for a few months before you get more ambitious. You'll save yourself a LOT of money and frustration. Start with a STABLE water source too, most tap water just fluctuates too much for healthy fish and plants. I'm on my third planted tank over many years and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it finally.
@stevecox8066 Жыл бұрын
Using the car analogy should be a big help for most people. I have never used Co2 and don't regret it. I'm sure my plants would be better if I did, but they are near perfect as is so why mess with success. Also, I don't want a show tank from day one. I want to watch the journey, see them grow, see them spread (like my java ferns), see the carpet fill in, watch the new leaves as they sprout. All those things are the joy of planted tanks. By the way, I still only the plants I ordered from your shop and they are killing it. The folks working in that department are absolutely doing it RIGHT!. I would say especially my cripts, swords, ferns, or bulbs, but every single plant has doubled/tripled in size and fullness in just a matter of months. I've lost none of them and never experienced any dieback. Hope I didn't jinx my tank, but for now it is a 75 gallon wonderland filled with nano fish who seem like they are enjoying Disneyland.

When I started getting into the hobby I got a tank from Tom Barr that he built himself (we happen to live in the same town). I met him at his house to get it, and it wasn’t until months later that I realized what a big deal he is! I wish I had asked him to sign my glass now.

I always wanted to go all in with plants. I could never figure out scaping. Co2 scared me for too long until I finally got my setup. And now I have a beautiful tank with colorful plants. As cory mentioned it speeds up growth so if you aren't ready for dedication wait for co2. You have to be ready for trimmings and dialing in the amount of co2 and so on. But when you are ready it can step up your planted game

Awesome topic and coverage! Food for thought: can we one day have Cory build this 900,000.00$ aquarium ? 🤣 allot of others out there with “best of the best” setups, would be really interested in what corys “best of the best” is at his level sans any hold back for the interpretation of what may happen in the community. Hopefully the expense can be written off lol

How would that even look like? Giant ADA tank on luxury tank stand with expensive tech, filled with rare fish and rare plants? Somehow I doubt it's possible for Cory, but it would be interesting topic. It seems way more than even the cost of the giant planted tank in Lisboa public Aquarium building, which was setup by Amano himself AFAIK.

The “cube” or “deep” made so much sense to me, I’ve been trying to scape on the standard rimmed American tanks and I’ve always struggle with room since a common trick is to have the back slightly elevated to show depth. Wouldn’t say I’m a veteran or even an aqauascaper. I’m just a person that buys a bunch of plants that I think would work for my water parameters (acidic, soft, hard water), plop then in and pray they don’t die from deficiencies, shock, or me just thinking all aquatic plants are the same😅.
