I’m just a few miles south of Modesto! New to the fish keeping world, well not counting my barrel of goldfish in the yard! Can’t wait to get up to Tropical Haven, so glad it’s only 20 mins. Away from me!

It's a true, old fashioned "mom & pop" fish store. Very healthy, good-looking fish. The owner of the store is quite a character too. Sometimes he performs sleight of hand magic tricks for his customers.

I'm familiar with having to go on an hour or two long trip to get a good fish store since all the fish stores that have a wide array of species in stock are found in the next city over. That said however, I am currently in the process of leaving the fishkeeping hobby indefinitely since I suddenly became very busy with my thesis and other schoolwork, to the point that I find it difficult to look after and maintain my tank. I might return to the hobby after I graduate and secure a stable job though. I plan on rehoming or selling the fish in my tank(2 young angelfish and a small school of golden pencilfish) to people I know over here. Only fish that will remain will be the livebearers I am planning to breed for profit.

LOL! For me it's just that Modesto is so flat. I've lived my whole life in places that were on a hill. I could look out over a varied terrain, giving great visual interest. You don't get that in the Central Valley of California. That's why it's farmland. Perfect for growing crops. Terrible for majestic views. But the people are exceptionally nice.

LOL! A free promo, yes, because I truly was impressed by their store. I didn't get paid for that. In fact, I has to pay for the Apistogramma. It wasn't free. I actually give a lot of free promos on my channel when I come across a business or service I think Aquatasy viewers should know about. And I have done several store tour videos profiling local fish stores I thought viewers might genuinely be interested in seeing. I even did a tour of a Petco once because, though I have been critical of many chain pet stores, I found one that had an excellent fish section. Conversely, if you go back through my videos you will find several instances where I slammed certain stores for their horrible business practices and their unhealthy livestock.
