We reviewed the Aquaterra Spas Fairfax Hot Tub from Costco. See how it was delivered, how we got it into our backyard and how it looks once it's set up. I am new to making videos so go easy on me! We just wanted to share our experience with people who may be considering buying this hot tub. See part 2 of our review here: • Aquaterra Fairfax Cost...
PS I forgot to mention in the video, but we received the hot tub 3 1/2 weeks after we ordered it. When we ordered it, it said to expect it to take 6-8 weeks so we were pleasantly surprised!
PPS The bluetooth speakers work great, but we had to remove the song that was playing due to copyright. We will do another video showing how well they work, so check back soon.

Do yourself a favor with ANY hot tub you purchase and buy some Reflectix radiant insulation (bubble wrap with aluminum foil on both sides) and attach (staple or glue) that directly to the inside of all 4 sides of your hot tub. If you can also put it on the very bottom of the hot tub before you install it, even better since that’s a fifth side. Radiant barriers will help retain the heat. My third hot tub had this and it made a world of difference. I will be adding it to our fourth hot tub from CostCo when it arrives next week.

Thanks for video. My old tub was a 10 person from 90's..😂 i bought a Milwaukee chainsaw. 6 inch and 18 inch saws 18v. And cut away. Took me 4 hours.. the perceives home owners had to crane it over house. Lol. It was crazy big. Gonna replace with a Costco if enough videos out there to say they r good.

We couldn’t afford a more expensive one so this one was a great choice for us!

A few questions #1 I saw in another post that you answered. "It holds set temperature" What is the coldest outside temperature and how long did you soak in which the temperature held #2 The tub sounds a bit loud. Yes? #3 Model and Approximate cost? #4 How much has your electric bill gone up? Thx much. You did a great job. Right to the point 👍👍 Thx very much.

We have gone in at about 10 degrees and it’s held at 104 for at least 20 minutes. I think once we were out in the snow and it dropped to 102 but we were out there for a while that night. Not sure how long we were out there. The Jets are a little loud but we’ve always had hot tubs with loud jets so they don’t bother me. I don’t have much to compare them against. It’s from Costco it’s an Aquaterra Fairfax tub. And our bill has only gone up a few dollars a month :)

I had nothing but bad luck with this hot tub. The aquaterra representative on the phone was more like an insurance adjuster trying to dodge any liability than provide help. My electrician finally diagnosed the bad pump, but I was so done by that point and called Costco to return the tub. All this while it was brand new, I can't imagine trying to get service after you've owned one of these for a year. Between the lift and electrician, I was out ~$2k on a hot tub I didn't get to use. Glad I made the upgrade though. I'm not a spa expert, but it doesn't take much to see and feel poor quality. Whether it be insulation, better cover, service, etc.

Thanks for sharing we just ordered one this week! How long did it take for Costco to give you a confirmation for ship date? How long from order to delivery?
@EverythingEllis

Sorry I’m just responding! We ordered on 3/22, it shipped 4/7 and we got it on 4/15! So less than a month from start to finish. I hope you love it!

Thank you for the amazing review! That gazebo you have your tub under is nice! Where is that from?
@EverythingEllis
@EverythingEllis Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It’s called a Covana. It actually lowers and works as a hot tub cover as well as a gazebo. We absolutely love it. Ours is a really old version (10+ years) that we bought used but it’s still working great!

A review on Costcos site said that the heat will not run if the jets are running which can cause it to cool fast in chilly temps. Have you noticed this?
@EverythingEllis

I honestly haven’t noticed this. We have sat in it in the snow and it’s always stayed plenty hot.

How’s the speakers? Are they loud and clear? Good quality?
@EverythingEllis

They are clear if they are above the water line, and get plenty loud for our needs. It’s not a top of the line sound system but it works!

Thanks for your video posting. We just got one (charcoal/grey) and started it up. The manual says that if you press the Jets 1 button 3 times they turn off but mine just go from low to high speed and low again, but do not turn off, I would imagine the "1 icon" on the control panel display would go away but just flashes on low speed or stays lit on high speed. the Jets 2 do turn off if I press the Jets 2 button twice. Do yours Jets 1 turn off? or unless they won't turn off until the water temp that is set to is reached (it is still heating about 60F)? Thanks!
@EverythingEllis

Sorry I’m just seeing this! I’m assuming it stopped once it heated? My jet 1 will run if it’s heating or I change the temperature, but it does turn off.

Thank you for sharing! Is the base of the hot tub that sits on your patio/slab plastic, treated wood or just untreated wood? And the components inside the panel look to be very packed in. Do you think you could service or replace any parts yourself?
@EverythingEllis
@EverythingEllis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great questions! I will take some more detailed video of the inside as a follow up so that hopefully you can see some of the components a little better. The base is wood that has been painted black, I am not sure if it is treated or not.

Everything is pretty tight in the hot tub unlike our other two previous ones. To answer your question about servicing I believe that I could do some things. I didn’t take off any side panel’s so not sure what anything else looks like.

Thanks for sharing! How is the pressure in the jets? I'm reading a lot of reviews that say that too many jets per pump can lead to weak jets, and this tub has a lot of jets! Second: insulation. Is the inside well insulated? The website says full foam, but it's hard to see if that's true in any of the videos or photos I've seen. The concern here is for heat loss and energy bills. Thanks again! Has everyone picked their favorite seat yet? 😁
@EverythingEllis
@EverythingEllis 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! We are going to open it up on a couple sides to try to get some better video of the inside in more detail. We haven't had a problem with it holding temperature and we have had some cold weather lately but I will see what the power bill says! The jets are great for us, but I am sure some people would prefer them stronger. You can shut them off on some seats to make others more powerful if you need them to be really strong! There are only a few that do move and adjust while the others are smaller and always on. I am hoping to get the next video posted by this weekend!

We still love it! Just make sure to have a flat surface and have your electrical in place. Other than that it’s super simple to set up if you know the electrical stuff or have an electrician to help you get it going.

Never purchase something like this its poorly made it takes to long to heat up. This tub will cost you on electricity bill.
@EverythingEllis
@EverythingEllis 6 ай бұрын
We’ve actually had it for 2 years and our bill never noticeably changed. Only up about $5-$10 a month from what it was before but there have also been price increases in our power and water so that isn’t all from the hot tub.
