With there being so many different ways to re-furniture an AR-15, there are some key things you should be considering when doing so. In this video, Brandon talks about rifle furniture.

On the note of that "hot spot" i really like the BCM grip, but I get that same thing further back. I curred mine by cutting a radius into the corners of the grip that present aft of the receivers ears on both sides. Basically just washed out the corners of the grip behind the triggergaurd with a series of rounded needle files.

The grip angle vs length of pull thing is such a big consideration. One of mine is set up as a 11.5 shorty AR pistol, I have the brace in tight. The A2 angle grip is so bad for my wrist holding the A2. I 3D printed a new grip that has a much more vertical angle and it's been cash money. As far as a foregrip, I think less is more. Trying to slot your gun through a VTAC barrier with a broomhandle sticking out, flashlight, IR etc is just one more thing that can get hung up. At the very most I go with a small "bikini" hand stop just to use as an index point.

Yep, this is all *extremely* subjective as ya said. Personal opinon though? K2, BCM or Magpul Foregrip, Emissary Handbrake, CTR w/ Extended Buttpad or SBA4? Perfect for me. Special mention for Sig's MCX folding stock. That thing is surprisingly comfy.

I just got a BCM KAG to try for the first time. I actually really like it. Not sure why it took me so long to finally buy one. But I also just got a True North K2 grip stop, which immediately became my favorite "fore grip" I used to be obsessed with thiccc stocks like the STR, SL-S and B5, but now I'm all about the slimmer bois. My favorite is the CTR or SL and the BCM Mod 0 (non-sop mod)
@spitfiremac2 ай бұрын
My undersrabding of the K2 grip was that it wasva combo depending on how you hold it... Lower is straight for short LOP and up in the beaver grip for more angle with longer LOP. They did it this way so distance to trigger and trigger placenent would be relatively the same despite the hand placement.
@thomashalley7258Ай бұрын
The k2 having the dip in at the top of the grip helps reach the safety if you have shorter finges.

Having a vertical grip on shorter rails definitely eases the tension in your wrist. For demonstration holding your hand out in front of you as if you're holding a rail. Bring your hand back towards your chest while maintaining a straight line as if that rail continued towards your body. You'll notice it starts to become uncomfortable. So on SBRs and M4A1s I prefer a vert grip to reduce the angle of my hand.

I'd say it's very subjective depending on your body type (neck, hands, arms, joints, injuries etc), but also the length and weight of your rifle make a difference. I like a straight vertical grip on say a 11.5" URGI with say an ACOG or just a red dot, it's perfect with an old waffle stock and A1/A2 grip for my physique and preference. But on a 14.5" URGI with an LPVO I prefer a magpul CTR, something like the BCM or K2 grip and just some hand stop on the rail.

I've finally come around to the reality that waffle stocks are not awful. I can mount a sling the way I like it using a triglide as a stopper in the slot. The cheek angle is how I like it; SOPMOD fatness was never my thing. Prefer to keep my face vertical. It is the single lightest furniture option out there. If it rattles add tape.

Until things change or I can move to a free(ish) state, my rifle setups are pretty much meat and potatoes: other than the typical furniture like pistol grips, stocks, muzzle devices, etc, pretty much just an optic, BUIS, vertical foregrip, and white light. Also, whatever your setup, get a good sling to complete it...

@SeanTownsendStormrider2 ай бұрын
I love the discussion, although I find the pistol grip logic a bit odd. In my opinion, length of pull is adjusted to the shooter and not a scope's eye relief. You can obtain proper eye relief for an LPVO in the mount without compromising the optimal length of pull for your body. I will concede that with ACOGs, you may have to shorten the length of pull with those due to the extremely short eye relief. On the rifle you demonstrated set up for the tactical games, you have plenty of room in that mount to push the optic farther forward if you don't want the stock all the way back.
