Really clean general/multipurpose setup. One aspect I really appreciated was the talk on slings catching tourniquets. Lessons like that are typically learned the hard way and being able to hear them first hand (or even second hand) from dudes that do the damn thing is always appreciated. Again individual mileage may vary and depending on what you are doing or planning to do will dictate some of those small adjustments you may need to make. Key thing is actually run your stuff. And not just on the flat range. Something as simple as climbing over a wall can make you feel silly when something catches and/or gets ripped off (ask me how I know lol). Also, when you actually use your kit you quickly find out why paying less for cheaply made stuff is almost never the move (learned this really quickly as a broke private trying to up my gear game). It definitely hurts the wallet buying more quality stuff even if it is "mid tier" but having to replace something after light use because the cheap stitching decided to give up randomly is way more painful. Lastly all I will say is get a gym membership and get in shape. You dont need to be at the fitness level of a ranger bat dude, but you can be better than where you are currently at. Plus you get to feel better and look sexier. Win win

Got the ac1 for its adaptability and scalability, and it's perfect for me. Aside from also owning a ready rig and sidecar holster, which i love, i use this under the spiritus split rig and it's super comfortable. I keep the split rig heavily loaded, but i also keep your 3 mag KYWI with the sticky GP attached to it in my assault pack, so i can drop the bulky shit and super quickly (maybe 15sec) outfit the ac1 with the placard and I'm literally off to the races. Big fan of your products and whole mission and ethos in general. Well done across the board!

Great Video! It's cool to see how far you can push the envelope with the AC1 I bought mine at a time when I needed something inexpensive to replace a plate carrier that I had lost in a house fire. I always looked at it with that mindset. So I have never looked at it as something scalable and never cared to scale it up until now. It would be cool to see a side plate option available with the Trex Arms Cummerbund.
@apersonontheinternet8006
@apersonontheinternet8006 5 ай бұрын
The folks that knock on slick carriers crack me up, you can really build these slick carriers up to quite a robust piece of kit. Some might argue that it defeats the purpose of a slick carrier but I argue that the very quick scalability is one of the biggest benefits of a slick.

@@TREXARMORY This is why I've always had a lot of respect for you. Any chance you guys would be interested in making hook-to-molle field back panels for slick carriers? I have a JPC and a Direct Action Gear Hellcat (went with them as I know a few of the guys) and have been looking for some panels that I can use as modular back panels if and when needed. A laser cut panel would allow for quick interchangeability and with 4 to 6 grommets and some shock cord or paracord would allow for solid securement to pretty much any carrier with a loop back panel.

My theory on TQ placement is center center center. Front or back doesn’t matter as long as it’s centered for the most part. Reason being, if you get shot in either arm or if either arm gets blown off, you can still reach it with your other hand. If both arms get blown off, well you’re just fucked.

I bought one of these some time ago. The AC1 would be perfect if the inside of the shoulder straps didn't dig into my traps so bad, even with extra shoulder padding. If they were angled like the MEPC, Crye, or Ferro it'd be great under a jacket. Love what TREX is doing, but I cannot wear an AC1 current state, unfortunately. MEPC was a better fit.

@Dusty96 Too much padding to compensate for poor design. This padding gives the illusion of comfort, and this is the case when you run basically nothing on it, but when loaded up, it does nothing. The shoulder pads and QR buckles are incredibly poorly designed, and this is true because any shoulder pad that makes it difficult to shoulder your rifle is a bad shoulder pad. Non-switchable and non-structural cummerbund...this basically prevents you from changing your cummerbund to a better cummerbund, forcing you to use a non-structural cummerbund with little to no molle real estate. You might as well have a piece of webbing with an ITW buckle, and it would do the same, if not a better job. The K19 is by no means garbage; it stands up to a lot of torture, and their QC is fantastic. But when you're wearing armor for extended periods, it's missing a lot of crucial updates as opposed to other brands.

I guess budget is a relative term. Every responsible consumer is on a budget of some kind. At my level (early career renter with growing family) getting a main and side arm and enough ammo to become proficient is serious budgetary conversation. The thought of taking the time and energy to own, let alone be skilled with, more than two weapon systems seems like an out of reach fantasy for a lot of people who are truly interested in firearms and preparedness. The AC1 is a great option, and I'm probably just suffering from slight buyers remorse. But I think if you are on a tight budget and you have something that technically works get good with what you have, take your wife on a date, plant a small garden, serve your family/church/community, and get healthy/fit. Fighting skills may be needed someday, but being rich in fighting skills and gear at the expense of all the things in life worth fighting for makes no sense. Most prepared citizens will never own a 308 battle rifle even if they might like to.

I have somewhat of an interesting scenario to throw at you. I live in a city and work at a university. Thankfully I work in a place that theoretically provides more time to react to a school shooting. My thought process is that because of where I work, having ammo and what not would not look good and likely I would just get myself shot, so my focus for a plate carrier would be to maximize my space and carry medical for myself and for several other people. What kind of set up would work for this? My thought right now is getting something like the RDR msp/mcp and getting their AMP or something similar. Is that something that you guys think would work, or is there a better placard system that would work better?

It sounds like you would be better off with a slick rig, possibly under a jacket, with an extensive med kit in a backpack or laptop bag.

I wish I had seen this video a few months ago. I bought some level 3+ plates, and got a Gray Ghost Precision minimalist carrier. I didn't like the minimalist carrier so I started looking for a "better" one. I wanted something that would take side plates. I ended up getting a Guard Dog plate carrier. It's fine for the range, but I think it's pretty reflective under night vision. Is there anything I can do about that?

I always recommend wearing a patch that has your blood type on it. Just in case.

Outside of military, its useless. You will be getting universal. No medic is going to take a chance on your blood type patch.

Any plans to stock soft armor? Ideally I would like to have plates for everyone in my family but I don't see my wife or kids being on board with level 4 plates and carriers but I think any person taking citizen defense seriously needs to be thinking about how this stuff integrates with their family.

When it comes to family it's probably best to keep them as far as possible from situations that requires armor best protection is to have an exit strategy and plan to get out before things get that bad. Of course this is just my opinion, I feel that armoring non combatants could make them targets not to mention its cumbersome even if it's soft armor.

@@taylorbennion3706 I see where you’re coming from. Ideally even with level 4 plates I’m not trying to be in a situation where they are needed but for the same reasons I want that insurance policy, I think it makes sense for loved ones to have similar capabilities and have it be concealed if needed.

@@_Art.Vandelay yeah the insurance is a good idea for sure no doubt about that, I suppose it also depends on the loved ones and their dispositions if that makes sense. Also yes whatever it is best to have it be concealed, and again just my opinion but probably a good idea to ditch armor once out of danger so as to not be seen as something you aren't.
