Hey, man, just because you use feather duster while on the range, and soft pillows for keeping your rifles from scratching, does NOT mean you don't use your rifles! Okay? 🙂

It's more to do with proportion. It's like the pillar orders, different kinds of intents, designs, and proportions. Although I think the easier way to show it is to look at your hands and arms to tell why.

I built a SPR with a BA 416R fluted 18" barrel and a 15" MCMR BCM rail this last year. I put a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 on it. It's incredibly similar to your 3rd AR. A man with good tastes I must say. I'm not a fan of delta ringed AR15s but that Centurion handguard is making me re-think a FSB build I want to do. Very cool brother.

Much appreciated! The Centurion rail is free float and does not use a delta ring, just the barrel nut underneath, it's great for sure

I've always liked that with the surefire pressure pads you could easy offset the pad instead of running it directly at the 12 o'clock position. I really wish streamlight would redesign their pressure pads or atleast come out with a pad that has the same surefire footprint. 3 of the 4 rifles I have white light on have the streamlight hlx series, the 4th has cloud defensive rein. WML's seem to become more advanced by the year now which is great. Back whenever I first started attaching WML's to pistols and rifles we all had the 100 lumen surefires which at the time were revolutionary compared to what was currently available at the time.

How much do those rifles weigh? Jeez. I think at some point it just become imitation instead of building a rifle for a practical purpose that YOU would need it for.
@Radvous
@Radvous 2 жыл бұрын
They weigh about 9 pounds or so
@TerminalM193
@TerminalM193 Жыл бұрын
They look to be anywhere from 8 to 11ibs which is perfectly fine. He's not running anything off the wall either so each one of his rifles seem perfectly practical for multiple situations and personal use so the whole "imitation" remark seems overkill. Is he supposed to only run irons and no lighting system, aka fudgun 101? This is just my opinion but any rifle that's ment for any kind of defensive use needs 3 things, "besides the obvious barrel, bcg, buffer, etc etc". Those 3 are a solid and reliable optic, a rugged and well designed rail system and a reliable, well tested and proven white light. He has all those bases covered. Anyways that's just my opinion and you know how the saying goes, "opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one..."

Hey quick question about the Modlite is that the SureFire DS00 Tail Cap plugged into the light I see on Modlites website? I like this set up but I'm also thinking about their GasCap tail cap in conjunction with Axon SL LINK switch as well. Thanks brother great video
@Radvous
@Radvous 24 күн бұрын
@h2p766 this is the Surefire Tailcap with the remote switch cable plug as well as a physical click button. This setup works really well. I have no experience with the USB tailcap lead, but I'm sure it works well because it's Unity quality. I would say either option would be a solid choice.

Which one would you say has the most solid lockup on the rail to barrel nut? I have a midwest mlok on a 16" barrel and if I squeeze the rail with my palm against and 3 fingers on the barrel, the rail flexes more than I'd like it too. Interested to see if the others may do that also. It's a pretty normal thing, but I'd like to find a rail/ barrel but system that doesn't move as much under tension. Thanks!

The Centurion is the strongest, the BCM second, the MI and Fortis are about equal but slightly favoring the Fortis.

If you want a strong, reliable and super rugged rail check out geissele rails. I've seen and used all the top contenders when it comes to rail design and geissele has the best mechanically strong design on the market imo.

What is the recommended torque specification for handguard screws? Does the recommended torque specification for handguard screws ever change from one manufacturer to another? Thanks.
@Radvous
@Radvous Ай бұрын
They will change from manufacturer to manufacturer. They can range from 35 inch pounds all the way to 55+ inch pounds. My recommendation if you don't have a torque driver is to torque your screws until they "bottom-out" or stop turning easily, then give them a 1/3 to 1/4 turn.

Ehi man! I have a question: I own a Troy alpha (14”5, overall length 16”) carabine and I was interested in buying a MI 14” hand guard. Is it 14” better than 13”5 or 12.6”? Thank you!!!

Question, I have a free float handguar at the moment but want to change it. All I have to do is take the old one off and slide tge mew one in? Do I have yo take into consideration on how the secure to the receiver or something? Or they are supposed to be universal?
@Radvous
@Radvous Жыл бұрын
You don't have to worry about the receiver, but you will have to most likely use a different barrel nut which should be provided with your handguard. Handguards are not usually universal.

Just curious when you refer to zero you are talking about the laser zeroing not the optic? I’m interested in the Midwest industry one but want my optics to hold good zero is all I mean
@Radvous
@Radvous Жыл бұрын
Yeah I meant zero as in for lasers or offset red dots mounted on the handguard. A primary optic should be mounted on the receiver though with no exceptions.
@TerminalM193
@TerminalM193 Жыл бұрын
Like Radvous said, you don't want ANY of your optics to be touching any part of your rail whatsoever. All optics should be attached to the upper receiver only. Lights and lasers / IR are the only acceptions. If running IR/laser then you want a very rugged, well designed rail that can take on the weight of all of your attachments and still hold perfect zero even if the rail takes abuse from drops or banging it on or around walls etc.

Anyone have experience fitting a "13 inch" BCM MCMR handguard over a 13.9" barrel? Reason I ask is because the MCMR measures 13.4 at the very end on the sides of the handguard and I'm wondering if there is clearance to tighten a surefire brake down & pin and weld it before buying these items....could always go 14.5" with that handguard if I need to but the barrel manufacturer & their profile I want to go with has them out of stock in 14.5" and 16", and only available on backorder for 13.9" but i'll take it if the barrel and handguard combo will work. I use MCMR on other builds and love them, i'd prefer to use one if at all possible to mount a few things in the exact same locations on each AR.

If you plan on using a suppressor it will not work, but if you don't plan on using a suppressor, as long as you install the Muzzle Device before installing the handguard, you will be fine. The handguard will just stick past the rear of the Muzzle Device a tiny bit.

We're going to need way more information in order to point you in the right direction.... How longs your barrel? What kind of gas block do you have? How close do you want the rail to end before the barrel ends? Do you plan on running suppressed? Do you plan on using white light and / or laser system?
