I live in a rural county. We only have a county Sheriff. He does a good job but it may take him 45 min. to get to your home if he’s on the other side of the county. There are much better, more active legal groups that I would encourage you to look into. GOA (Gun Owners of America) and FPC Firearms Policy Coalition). @@lowandslow3939 I left the NRA after seeing Wayne LaPierre in his safari hunt video and all the promotions that kept coming to me. @@PatrickThreewit Can you show any actual proof of Larry's alleged "nazi" buddies or whatever you're trying to imply? I read SPLC's hit-piece, they don't provide sources. Being an invited speaker at events promoting militia's that happen to have some allegedly unsavory characters attending is coincidence; If I wanted to make you look bad (and had the resources of these journo's) I guarantee I could pin you to all manner of nonsense you have nothing to do with. So I sincerely hope you have far more evidence than they provided (as I'm not wasting my time chasing down almost certainly fabricated bs, as the group posting this is ideologically opposed to 2A, ie they're not a trusted impartial source & they've lied about people and fallen for 4chan meme's time and time again for the leftist "cause") He's a "Christian supremacist" and would probably admit it to your face. But show me any devout believers of any faith and I'll show you a "Hindu Supremacist" or "Muslim Supremacist" etc; it kind of comes with the territory of blind faith in a dogmatic ideology. Unfortunately the legal situation with suppressors in the US I think is absolutely disgusting. In a defensive situation in an enclosed space, they have real value in limiting how much one rings their own bell. They also make practicing at the range much more enjoyable (for everyone). It shouldn't require a $200 permission slip and months of waiting on the government.

The truck is for fighting your way to your John Deere mower and super loud generator / delicious smelling grill. Then you just kick back with a cold one and watch thugs touch on NFL. Hoarding up everything when they won't ever do shit, and when SHTF they will sit around obliviously until a pack of illiterate 15 year olds eats them. Already at the sunset of their lives yet still terrified of death, yet hoarding up everything worth owning so a harder tougher younger generation cannot afford to defend their lives, liberty, and property (if most of us could afford any). A personal anecdote is that my house was being broken into via the patio sliding glass door. They trip the lock by smashing the glass and pushing in the glass to reach the door lock in less than 20 seconds. I heard the pounding as they beat the bottom of the door to get the wood pole in the floor slide and called the police. 45 minutes later, I called again to find out where they were and was told they went to the wrong address but were now outside on the sidewalk. I opened the front door, in my underwear, and sure enough four cops and a police dog were standing there motionless looking back at me! WTF! I waved at them, and they waved back to come out of the house while they went in. Standing by the police dog, who was eyeing me, in my underwear, when the cops came out and said the criminals were gone. No shit! Found out later that they were waiting to hear from dispatch to make sure MY gun was locked up in a safe. This is so stupid it is beyond belief.

A police officer friend of mine once told me, "Police are there to pick up the bodies, fill out the paperwork, and ask questions...after the deed is done." Another officer friend who worked out at Atlanta Airport (before 911 - in the 1980's) told me that APD had a precinct at ATL International that was comprised of 7 officers, total. He told me, "Truthfully, if I was home and got a call that terrorists had attacked the airport, the first thing I would do is finish breakfast." It's every man for himself, my friends. At arms length I'd prefer a good knife over a pistol. A pistol will punch a hole. A knife will punch a hole, cut muscles, separate tendons, spill his guts on the floor, etc, etc. A pistol has only one danger spot, the end of the barrel, about a 1/2 inch wide. A 6" double edged blade has 12" of danger zone not counting the pommel. You also have much less risk for collateral damage.

@@Frankie5Angels150 I think you meant "no sane person". Autocorrect is a b*tch. Actually if a choice is to be made take BOTH. There is a reason professionals carry a combat knife as well as their long gun and pistol. As for training and proficiency a knife does not require a huge amount of either, much less than a pistol. With a knife speed and aggression account for A LOT. Training does help. It is much harder to defeat a knife if the wielder keeps his strikes and stabs within the kill box instead of swinging wildly. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing handguns. Having a CCW, if one is required in your State, is a top priority and you should ALWAYS have your tools with you.

If you use that for self defense, juries will be less sympathetic and often overcharge because it's a "scary" AR. If the unfortunate happens (and I pray that it never happens to anyone), you will likely face court. My home is my last stand and here I will stay and fight. Luckily many people where I live are pro-gun/2nd Amendment. After what I saw on 7th October of the massacred of Israelis citizens by the butcher Hamas, I thank God we have the 2nd Amendment in our Constitution. It is sad that if Israel had something like our 2nd Amendment, their could have been many Israelis alive today.

The level of delusion required to think that a 30shot 9mm PCC loaded with +P gold dots or HST is not capable of handling literally *any* home defense scenario is so far beyond my comprehension that I think I must've been transported to the twilight zone when I clicked on this video. You're talking about a super fast shooting, low blast 30 shot 357 magnum when you drive hot 9mm+P from a 16" barrel.

There's some nuance that you are overlooking in the PCC vs shotgun for home defense. Some of us are older with worn out shoulders or small statured. At 66 years old my shotgun is now an eighteen inch 410 with buckshot which has limited capacity and slower reloads of the magazine compared to my PCC. My PCC like so many is 9mm with hollow points and much higher capacity with fast magazine reload. If there is an individual to defend against it doesn't matter. However if it is a group, I'd go with the PCC. Everyone who would shoot indoors for self protection should experience one round shot indoors without hearing protection. Just so we all know what to expect. It will ring your ears maybe for days. Yes, every shot we take, even in our own home, has the possibility of bystanders. I'm living in a small Iowa town where I can walk the streets safely. I know, I've walked almost daily since retiring. I';m up to about 1,100 miles a year. So this town is good for old people. It is also well armed. The town has about 2,000 households. There's probably 1,500 to 3,000 firearms and one to two million rounds in town. It is a quiet polite town. Many if not most firearms are in the hands of well trained people. The local gun club is inexpensive and has an accessible outdoor range. Within 25 minute drive we have three indoor ranges. Plus all the local landowners who let friends and family shoot on the back 40. An armed group of thugs would cause a problem, but would be put down like a rabid dog.

I'm glad you mentioned ammo choice. Most people who are unfamiliar with guns don't realize the difference configurations of rifles the way we do as having roles. But even more so understanding how much ammo choice affects usage. Actually, ammo choice is really what determines what type of gun we'd purchase or use in a scenario, we just skip that step in the process of logic because we associate types of guns for a role, but it's because the bullet it shoots.

Yes you're right, most non gun-owners and worst even many gun-owners don't understand ballistics and the role of each firearm and calibers (pistols, carbine, semi-auto rifle, lever action, bolt action...) and they just think "I've got a firearm", you can't handle the same scenarios with 9mm pistol, a 30-30 irons sights lever action, a 30-06 scoped bolt action rifle or a .223 semi auto with a red dot...

The typical wood framed American home provides concealment but not cover. If attackers surround your home with you inside it you as the defender have lost freedom of movement and attack initiative. Intel and community awareness is important because it allows the defender to engage the enemy at the street from the woodline. If bad guys stack my front door on my front porch and I can engage them from the treeline I maintain freedom of movement and the initiative. It is important to include the immediate area in which you plan to fight in the defense of your home, family and property. The best place to defend your home is from the wood line outside your home. Appalachia is a guerrilla war fighters dream. Appalachia has defensible terrain, a moderate climate, plentiful rainfall, lush mountain clearings besides rushing clean mountain streams and a naturally rebellious population. There are many reasons retired Green Berets and US Army Rangers choose to settle in Appalachia.

Nude or not, if you intend to defend your home from the inside (or even from the outside), I highly recommend you obtain and utilize some hearing protection, namely in the form of a suppressor. I run a DD MK18 with a 10.3 barrel (registered SBR) with standard ball ammo and a suppressor for full spectrum defensive needs. I am not worried about overpenetration as most 5.56mm rounds tumble on impact (most FMJ rifle calibers do). If they do, the round will not normally sustain lethal velocity on exit. I agree with the author here, hitting the target is paramount.
@Lexicologist1971

Using 55 grain ball ammo in an SBR is ill advised. That round requires longer barrel lengths to tumble. They won't reliably tumble when shot from a 16" barrel. You should be using an expanding projectile.

I can't imagine a scenario where I grab the AR and hearing protection, but I can imagine the ringing ears for days after grabbing it and using it. And I live in rural Missouri, not likely to face a group of armed intruders, at least not in the near future.🤷‍♂ But if the need arises, I have a 300 AAC upper, and I can get a can for it, so I got options.👍

Why choose 300 blackout for armor? Are the not slower, with greater surface area ? Idk, I have to be real about my abilities. I am not able to stock up on top of the line tungsten bullets, and a 5.56×45 to the chest isn't something you walk through even with armor. It seems to me ninetysomething percent of self defense is speed. Outside that means packing in a way that your practiced drawing subsecond from. Nicely done! One point of disagreement is on the value of the PCC. I think it's an excellent ballistic upgrade from the pistol for shooters of smaller stature . Low recoil and weight, Leading to More powerful and accurate rounds on target. It can also be broken down and concealed allowing you to have a rifle in public ready to engage at any time . Lastly it's a much cheaper round to practice with allowing for the development of rifle shooting skills

Good video. Thanks for making it. I agree with all your points. For the 12ga, The police low recoil OO buckshot with a Kick-Eez recoil pad will work well and is what I use for the shotgun. The low recoil load also give about a 12 inch pattern at 25 yards, which is 1/2 size from the full power load. I also have a side saddle and a shell belt with 40 rounds ammo. I can snap this on even if naked. For recoil sensitive people, the 9mm carbine is fine. From a 16 inch barrel the velocity will be a good bit better with the right load. The CorBon 115 gr loads goes 1515 fps and the Federal 9BPLE 115 gr +P+ loads goes 1480 fps. This is very close to the highly rated 357 Magnum load from a 4 inch barrel. My AR9mm has a double mag connector allowing 64 rounds to be easily carried.

To make his point my buddy mag dumped on a bucket with his .45ACP pistol and said "See he's not getting up." (If the bucket were an intruder) Pointing out the 8 or so big holes in the bucket. I hit it with one shell of 000 Buck and the bucket exploded all over the range sending the sand in it flying everywhere. I said "See there, they'll never find all the pieces of him." The impact difference is mind blowing. A long rifle will disable an arm, a 12ga will take an arm off and toss it into the neighbor's yard.

The late Marine colonel Jeff Cooper, owner and proprietor of Gunsite Academy and author of several works on firearms and self defense famously said, "A pistol is merely a means of fighting your way to your rifle." I would add to that, "...which you should have had with you in the first place."

I've seen some street people pull out an AR9 out of their pants, and a long barrel at that.

With multiple thousands of military age males daily entering illegally from hostile nations like China and Middle East terror strongholds we would be seriously short sighted to fail to take into account the potential risk they present to average Americans.

I would argue that if a mob of armed criminals descends on your community, the least of your worries should be a few stray projectiles from your .45-70, 450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM or 500 Automax. I'm quite certain that the armed criminals will manage 99% of the strays that rip through the houses around you.

yes. I think that if you have a WROL situation and a mob attacking you, overpenetration is less of a concern vs. surviving the encounter, it might even be a feature. but there are also situation when it would give you little additional benefit and greater liability (and less capacity), so your situation matters a lot in that conversation.

I've been considering the Henry Homesteader for home defense for my wife because of the simple manual of arms, same safety as her mossberg 500 .410, and soft recoil. Also seems like a super big brother to the 10\22.
