Your vids are real interesting to me. I learn a lot from your vids, thanks! You also fixed one of my speakers and they're still sounding great. I'm not intimidated to do a lot of this myself now. I think I screwed up an old late 50's Jensen woofer though, the VC, don't know about tackling that one. I was real disappointed about feeling the rub. Survived over 50 years, then I touched it, what a bummer.

I have a pair of AR 3 & A pair of AR3A would like to have restored. How much would that cost approximately. I purchased both new in mid 1960's. I would like to have the AR3 converted to AR3a if feasible for more mid range

I don't think those are the original covers, they weren't glued in, they were held with velcro. The material had a lot more stables in it. It looks to me like someone made a new cover?

well, when the very expensive Infinity RS II from California arrived in Germany in the late 70s, the capacitors had been changed with SIEMENS type ones, and the crappy pots had been removed and preplaced by solid resitors immediately. Crap Made in the U.S.A. Presumably Insiders know what happens to the loudspeaker bead of Infinity chassis dissolve in around 2 decades ...

I'm just thankful that you work on speakers and not something more critical, like a human beings. LOL Let's just be happy that you're not a doctor and leave it at that. Whew! What a mess.

The sound of those AR's, after all that work , sound like CRAP! I bought a pair of AR-3a's in 1964 (new) for $400 for the pair, but those sounded VERY NICE. Maybe that's because I was driving them with HK "Citation A" and "Citation B" preamp/amp. I think the higher damping factor of the "solid state" electronics tightened up the bass response of those woofers. As for those tweeter level controls, they started to go down the toilet after about 2 years of ownership. To be fair I had the same problem with a pair of Infinity Q2's that I traded up to in '78. I don't know what it was/is with the POOR quality of American made products, but I guess it is what it is!!
