The part where ara dinjian talks about picking your own style is tough especially for complete beginners myself and kinda resonates with me in a way. I've watched and continue to watch so many Oud players and I sometimes focus on the way Oud players pluck the strings and in my somewhat 2 months of playing the oud I've tried to orient their style of playing. I guess its a case of trial and error during your learning process. Also my Oud is need of repair, headstock is cracked so I cant play but I've found a luthier though somewhat far ill make sure to show gratitude!!!!!

Where do you live? I might know a qualified luthier to help you fix your oud.

What do you mean? The luthier I’m in contact with her name is Jo Dusepo. She makes Ouds and sells them here in the UK. She’s based in London

Great interview - is the oud you play, one you made or a Tarunz oud at 26 ?

That's a Furuk Turunz oud from the year 2000.

Bravo. What was meant by old tuning vs modern tuning? I'm guessing "modern" means fourths all the way down. Yes?
@lordofthestrings_heritage5 ай бұрын
The 5th string matches the 2nd and the 6th matches the 3rd, that's the old.

@@lordofthestrings_heritage The 8th? Maybe a typo for 6th? Yeah! EABEAD is how all the Armenians in NYC tuned in the 1960s
@lordofthestrings_heritage5 ай бұрын
@@banjrsolo Sorry that was a typo I just corrected. Yes, I meant the 6th course. EABEAD for old Turkish tuning (still that way today), and old Arabic G, A, D, G, C, or C, G, A, D, G, C and now more commonly, C, F, A, D, G, C.
