A very good question. The answer is that the military has ruled Egypt since 1952 (and now back in power). The military changed its policies in the late 1970s (reconciling with the West and Israel). Whereas the public remains unreconciled. Liberal forces remain very pro-Western and the left was crushed and/or is unable to address popular concerns. This is one of the main reasons for the rise of MB after Arab Springs.

MB was blamed and censored for Cairo Fire and riots (that was under Farouq). Free Officers Movement was actually very close to MB from 1952-54. Gamal Nasser, in fact, was in contact with MB and the Haditu for support. As part of MB strategy to take power, they allied with Naguib against Nasser. They tried to assassinate the leadership of the Free Officers Movement. That is why they were eventually banned in Jan 1954.

@@Taimur_Laal I actually have a book which I never got around to reading . It is about this very topic, religion or ethnic group. It was very popular in Israel on it's publication a few years ago, it's The Invention of Jewish People by Shlomo Sand. Maybe you've read it ? I've just done watching your previous video. About Jewish migration to Israel from Arab countries and Europe, you didn't mention the interesting fact that the Soviet union actually created a Jewish autonomus state (JAO) in 1934 way before Israel within the Soviet Union, to allow Jews from within the Soviet Union and the wider world to move there if they so wish. It was part of the Soviet policy of promoting and supporting minority nationalities and cultures etc I believe. During the 40s the Jewish population there was 25% and now its less than 1%.
