Aidan moffat is the voice of an entire generation in Scotland. Utter Genius
@brettharvey7162 жыл бұрын
he’s definitely not a genius, all he does is talks over decent musicians

This interview is pure gold. I have followed mogwai and Arab Strap since 1998. Aidan is awesome.

Deeper is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, Moffat is a fucking genius and his lyrics are that which so few are, grounded in a specific lifestyle and reality but paradoxically universal.

his lyrics are very relatable if you feel like you don't belong to this world

We're glad you're enjoying it! Hopefully you can discover some of the greatest jams in recent history. Seriously, check out the Smiths.

The British Masters is the best piece of video music journalism that it has ever been made in the last years. I'd love to see an American Masters soon too (although I guess Soft Focus is the US version?)

PLEASE tell me your gonna do Vince Clarke hes so underrated and is definitely a British Master theres a reason hes called the King of Synth
@zackerymclaren797811 жыл бұрын
yeah, that's how it goes. wikipedia says the Belle & Sebastian album created some tension between the bands but nearly half the B&S members have contributed to a large number of Arab Strap's tracks.... who knows.

I'd love to interview Vince Clarke face to face, I've interviewed him on the phone many times. He lives in the States unfortunately.

Its okay i found your interviews on The Quietus and they'll tide me over. Id trade my left nut for one of those House of Illustrious box sets, anyways love the series John keep it up.

Actually, it's me that's confused. Arab Strap are named after a Middle Eastern cock ring, and Belle and Sebastian's album are named in partial tribute to Aidan and Malcolm's band.

I quite like Arab strap - but I never got mogwai - just no hooks - each to their own I guess

Well he was at least YOUNGER when it was written 15+ years ago.

I love Arab strap, don't get me wrong. But when Aidan described his lyrics as poetry it made me burst out laughing.

Isn't everything? His lyrics read like a 13 year old's diary or a letter to a women's gossip magazine.
@josephharris80478 жыл бұрын
+Navin Navout Personally I love his lyrics - yes they often deal with sex in the most overt and vulgar fashion but that was always Aidan's intention. They are so incredibly well observed and executed with the minimum of pretension. Obviously you are entitled to your opinion but I and many others would agree with his description....
@davidboerma8 жыл бұрын
I think he said "to me it's all just words". And that he doesn't differentiate between what you call poetry and something else

There seems to be some confusion here. Arab Strap are named after the Belle and Sebastian album The Boy With The Arab Strap, written about a fictional character... So don't let Aidan's lovely face interrupt your torrid fantasies.
