Arabs in Israel fear consequences for speaking out about Israel-Hamas war

Some Arab citizens of Israel say they are not speaking out or posting on social media about the Israel-Hamas war out of fear of retaliation for their comments. Josh Lederman reports on the tense situation in Israel, where human rights groups say hundreds of Arabs have been fired, suspended from universities, and even arrested for being accused of sympathizing with terror or supporting Hamas.

Palestinian deaths/injuries due to this occupation from 2008-2020 was at 5590 vs 251 for Israel. An average of 500-700 Palestinian children are reported to be detained by Israeli occupation forces each year, with an estimated 13,000 mostly arbitrarily detained, interrogated, tried in military courts and imprisoned since 2000. This is all BEFORE THE OCT 7TH ATTACK. Enough with the ignorance.

History is important, yet people often ignore it. Back in 1947, The United Nations Partition Plan called for two states to be formed immediately. Israel accepted that proposal and the Arabs rejected it. Their rejection was followed by an attack on Israel and the war did not end well for the Arab side. The rules of war dictate that the loser can't expect to be rewarded for their loss so the state of Israel that emerged afterwards was not a result of an Israeli "occupation" as many in the Arab world choose to call it, but rather, through victory on the battle field. That is exactly how America was born as well as countless other countries.

apartheid is a misnomer. they're just trying to use a buzzword to communicate a kind of militarized segregation which does exist, but not in Israel and not for its citizens. Apartheid iirc is specifically for when you have different classes of citizens. What Israel is actually doing is a long-term occupation and control of a generally hostile people who are not citizens of Israel.

The intolerance on full display by the Israelis only makes the situation worse. Extreme nationalism, censorship of speech, demonization of a religious group and theft of land did not work out so well for Jews in WW2. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. IE: Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Just to be clear I do not support the violence committed by Hamas however I can sympathies with there anger towards Israel.

Israeli here, the problem is we were too tolerant. 20 percent of our citizens who have full rights are Palestinian Muslims who don't even serve our country yet get all the benefits of citizenship. We supplies Gaza with economic aid, electricity and food until the attacks out of the belief economic stability will outweigh their antisemitism. After the Holocaust we did absolutely nothing against Germans. It's time we Jews stop being passive when being slaughtered as we were during the Holocaust and now three weeks ago
