This town Arabsiyo has a historic memory for our family. This is the town where my late father (RIP) has been inaugurated as tribal chief early 1970s. My uncles used to live there. They were farmers and had cattle. I remember visiting Arabsiiyo during school break with my family. I left my country Somaliland in 1988 after Siad Barre regime air strikes civilians and properties.

Most of the people who live in Arabsiyo used 2 live at Djibouti. That's the connection with France. After they retired, they come back to their home country.

As soon I saw the name ARABSIYO I opened the video. I have never been there but I read the book 'The Last Camel, true stories from Somali, written by Jeanne D'Haem. She was a teacher in 1968 in a school in Arabsiyo. The book is about her experiance with the Somali people in the tawn at that time.

Hi, this is unrelated, but I have a question regarding food hygiene in Hargeisa, especially regarding meat. I will be visiting there in a few months. I wanted to ask: do people get food borne diseases/illnesses often? Should I avoid cheap restaurants and only dine at the high-end ones? If you could enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
@SamirahJees2 жыл бұрын
Hi to be honest this was something I was worried in 2016 on my first visit so I became vegetarian for that visit. Which was hard because its very meat based cuisine. I still had severe tummy ache and was sorted out by a local with freshly squeeze lemons with rock salt. Amazingly I was fixed. Now I'm more relaxed but we don't get Street food we cook a lot at home so we know it's fresh or eat at clean looking restaurants. It's always hard to tell though so I keep lots of lemons close. I take activated charcoal with me when I travell as well.

Yes SISTER, your right 😂 everybody knows each other specially sub tribes (I’m H.Y) so if a kid steals in the shopping centre 😮 it’s a BIG DISGRACE & DISHONOUR 2 the family name & sub-tribe. That is why NOBODY STEALS the GOLD outside trading & money💰 exchange, if he steals the WHOLE community will take ACT 😂
