Nacatl War-Pride is one of my favorite cards that no one seems to know about. I have it in my Warrior tribal deck because extra combats are insane with the Pride. Convinced my buddy to put one in his Ghired deck and that was a mistake (for me). Fun fact: the tokens don't have to be attacking the player the original attacked.

I took out the equipment sub theme. It added so much inconsistencies. Just making it a cat Tribal with a lot of the good cats made it so much more effective.

I built mine a few months ago and, for the same reasons he cites here, actually buffed the equip theme with more and better equipment so it could be more reliable. And new Lion's Sash is hilariously good for this.

The problem with arahbo specifically is, its an aggro deck that cannot rely on commander damage, and on top of this, cats lack a consistent theme across their cards. I actually kinda wish wizards would print a naya cat commander, that does more for them as a tribe than arahbo does, and maybe print some more pieces that bring the deck together.

Deep down I've known it for a while but now I've got to do it. The equipment sub theme has always felt lacking for me in this deck. So I'm going straight cat tribal and moving my equipment to a new akiri deck.

Nice video! I actually cut the equipment theme a long time ago because it felt kinda kluncky. I'm really happy with my build, and no card in it have a higher mana value than 6. That just how I like to run the deck, and I personally found that it kept the overall pace of the deck more intense. I run a lot of board wipe protection in this deck, I find it really fun to build up a cat army, but it's always really vulnerable. I'll check out this video again when I go back to the deck, even though I'm happy with my build, there's some stuff in here that seems like a really fun way to mix things up.

Not cutting Lightning Greaves? Challenge the Stats material right there. Nonbo with Arahbo's trigger. Also, missing Grafted Exoskeleton if you feel like Infect wins; any cat with both Arahbo triggers is a OHKO. Open the Armory or Enlightened Tutor could grab the cheap Aura or Equipment. Gotta love doubling damage, so Inquisitor's Flail is a fantastic addition imo. Akroma's Will is also nice next to Heroic Intervention, but make sure if you use it offensively, cast it after the Arahbo triggers resolve.

Greaves it's actualky useful to protect Arahbo itself as he is a huge removal magnet and can win if left unchecked, also he can't target himself with his own eminence

I have an Arahbo cat theme deck. However it's more an Ajani theme. All but 2 Ajani's are in it.

Temur Saber is a bit like the equipment, a subtheme that isn't getting enough support in the average list. My Deck is running Whitemane Lion, Fleetfoot Panther and Door of Destinies as well as the Saber. They aren't quite as good as they'd be in a dedicated bounce/flicker deck but I like the flexibility they give me in combat phases. If WOTC prints some more decent ETB kitties we could have a fairly strong pouncing subtheme.

I think the thing to mention about alms collector is that it's not actually a card draw card, it's a Stax card that makes your opponents not want to play their draw spells. The reason you don't see it activating is because it's working!

How do we feel about planeswalkers like Elspeth knight errant and garruk unleashed in the deck? I've had them both in the deck for a while now and if I even get one of em on board its a +6 +6 buff and we re either trampling or flying! Ik those planewalkers weren't on your list here. But curious if people think it should stay or get the cut. Also beastmaster ascension??

Personally I’d put in more equipments and decrease the creatures. As you said Arahbo is about going tall, not wide. If you want a wide cat tribal deck go with Jetmir or Jinnie Fay

Loved cat tribal when I used to play it on the original precon days. I went wide and used mirri as the commander at the time to spread out my offense with token generation. Might have to try again with my build. Also would love to see your take on magda brazen outlaw. With all the vehicles coming in from neon dynasty I wonder what this commander could be like.

Me too, weakness of combatbased decks is (mass)removal. Equipments often stay on the board so you just need 1 cat at a time.

Wait... so you put in terramorphic expanse in the off-chance that you can get a landfall trigger, and then take out sword of the animist? Rofl! seems kinda backwards. Sword of the animist will generate way more landfall triggers than a single fetch land.

Wouldn’t the shapeshifters make the deck ineligible for Kaheera? Or is the companion rule just that the word “cat” has to appear among creature types?

Adding shapeshifters, breaks the companion requirement for Kaheera. Shapeshifters don't get their "changeling" ability till they enter the battlefield. While they are in the deck, they are still only "Shapeshifter" and fail to meet the Kaheera check. I dropped a lot of the shapeshifters for this reason, because I like having Kaheera's on demand lord and vigilance effect.

This is thankfully untrue. Changeling cards count as all creature types in all zones, including the library, exile, hand, graveyard, etc. So they count in the deck for Kaheera, they can be searched for with things like Elvish Harbinger, and Wort Boggart Auntie can reclaim Tarfire (a Goblin spell) from the graveyard. This is also why Rin & Seri make two tokens off casting a Changeling, because it counts as both Cat and Dog on the stack.
