Hi a redtail catfish can reach 2ft in the 1st yr. I bought one at 2inch and he reached 21inch in 7 months, i was shocked with the growth rate later it slows down. Now he is 30inch 3yrs old. I have plenty of monster fish albino pacus which are nearly 2.5ft, gars have crossed 3ft etc.Just bought a 5inch arapaima on march 2 now he is nearly 2ft. I would suggest to everyone never buy an alligator gar or arapaima.

A baby rtc of 3 inch will never reach 2ft in 1 year...it's miracles if it reaches again a 5inch arapaima will never become 2ft in 3 months...i think you are very lucky

@@satyajitpetsvlog it all depends on how you take care of the fish. Filtration and water change is a must. If you want more info you can join monster fish keepers. You can ask the experts there. Regarding my redtail it was all alone in a 120gal, 3 times a week water change (80%) i even hv proof of growth rate through pics. And another thing is i have 3 redtails all reached 2ft in the 1st year. If you over stock the tank, growth inhibitor will not allow the fish to grow. I seen your redtail was in a tank with other fish pacus etc as a result you will not see that kind of growth rate. Dont mind me telling you this but im telling you through what i have seen.
