I like that like in RL the fate of a lot of the characters in 30K remains unknown, I guess we will eventually get a lot of answers once The Scouring starts but I think a lot of them will forever remain a mystery, which seems oddly fitting we are not meant to be privy about every little detail and that's ok too in a narrative.

Why would be he deep steeped in shame if he successfully conquered that world for the Imperium and dealt a crushing blow to the traitors? Doesn't make any sense Also interesting how everyone completely forgets to mention that the Thousand Sons slaughtered Spacewolves, Custodes supported by Sisters o Silece in the tens of thousands despite being impossibly outnumbered. Without the flesh change, they would have clearly won despite all odds.

His task was to destroy what remained of the legion, not just conquer the planet. Although he retook the planet, he ultimately failed his main objective due to the Thousand Sons' escaping the planet.
