In my opinion 64 runs in 96 semifial and his iconic six against bret lee at the verge of retirement is more than enough to recognized him as one of the greatest batsman in cricket history!!!

Yeah he was the main reason. Not only with the bat but also with the ball. But u can't say single handedly. Coz Gurusinghe's 50 and Arjuna's Captain's knock helped him to build the inning too. So that's a collective team performance around Aravinda

A case in point, Glen Maxwell's innings against Afghanistan in the recently concluded ODI WC. Though not as significant in numbers as Gurusinghe's, yet Cummins innings was cruscial. But on that day Aravinda did it with bat, ball and fielding.

Aravinda de Silva the great batsman who the best bowlers in the opposition fear. He used to come ball one and transfer the pressure back on the bowlers. All clean cricketing shots all around the ground and some of the best counter-attacking and match winning innings you will ever see. Truly a big match player and a deserved hall of famer!!

Greatest batsman of Sri Lanka. Well ahead of the next Sanga. Best pull shot along with Ponting. Has good square cut and drive too. Most importantly champion mentality, winner attitude. WC 96 semi knock was his greatest and most critical knock.
