The hallmark of the greatest racehorses is if they achieved the Epsom Derby and Arc double. Very few have done it, in fact only 7 achieved that feat: Sea Bird, Mill Reef, Sinndar, Lammtarra, Sea the Stars, Workforce and Golden Horn. Dancing Brave should have been among them as he should have won the Epsom Derby. I, personally, wouldn't rate Workforce or Golden Horn as great though.

Yes Lester described Crepello has a great horse and would have won the triple crown in 1957 if he hadn't broke down, don the 2000 Guineas on he's reappearance that year and easily beat Ballymoss in the Derby who went on to win the Arc. Got injured before the King George, then while being prepared for the St Leger broke down again and didn't race again, for Lester to call him a great horse is a very high compliment considering he rode Sir Ivor, Nijinsky, Alleged etc

This is a very fair representation, and I keep changing my mind as to which is best. It used to be Nijinsky, but after seeing Sea Bird II again I think it's maybe him. Mill Reef was a better horse than in the 2000 Guineas and his 6 length victories in the KIng George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and 6 length win in the Arc make him a contender. I'm sure of one thing, if all the Derby winners ran in one big race there'd be a turn up, and if they ran again after they were refreshed there'd be a different result. Without the American ringworm which severely weakened him, Nijinsky would have won the Arc and then retired unbeaten. He's the first triple crown winner since Bahram in 1935 and nobody can take that away from him. He also sired 3 Derby winners 1 more than Mill Reef.

You obviously no jack about horses. Sea the Stars won the 200 guineas, the Derby, Eclipse, Judmont, Irish champion stakes and the Arc in one season. No horse has ever had a classic season as good. He never won by less than a length, always in control. Mick Kinane who road some great horses - said he was on another level to all the others. I think he knows a bit more than you.

@@markbosley26 Nonsense, he won as he liked like only a great horse can. Never won by less than a length in control of the race. His classic season is unmatched. 2000 guineas, Derby, Eclipse, Judmont, Irish champion stakes and the Arc. You seriously need to think again if you think you know anything about horses.
