I like the idea. I guess what I wanted to see was the part where you put it back in the truck and it made a huge difference in how you got up the steep icy driveway.

Great video, I just wish someone would make a video on how to use an arb air locker with regular on board air that uses 1/4npt fittings instead of 1/8bsp fittings on the selonoid, or an adapter and where they ordered it.

I need to pull the axle on my 03 jeep wrangler with C-clip axles...it has an ARB locker...how do you get to the C-clip to remove the axle....the manual shows to remove a pinion shaft then the C-clip with a magnet....the ARB is of course different and im not familiar with an ARB....can you advise how to remove axle with an ARB ??

Good point on the taper of the 1/4NPT tap. I know it calls for a 7/16" drill, but I usually start with a 1/2" bit. Of course, that being saide- check the part you intend to install for the MAJ/MIN diameters, that will tell the story. Sometimes you get a wierd fitting that the MAJ diam is too small to go with anything but the 7/16" bit.. usually that's cheap chinese crap, though.

one of the best videos about this stuff! just one question: I' ve seen how you try to get the right "play" from the pinion and the gear, but I don't understand how and how much you "pre-load" the bearings. Can you explain me? Sorry for the english I hope you understand what I mean.

hi carl,can i remove the old bearings and install them on the new locker? or must be new? thanks
@Broncocarl927 жыл бұрын
Diabolike Trackfreek I suppose you could if you can get them off without damaging them, but for what a setup kit cost it makes more sense to just use new IMHO.
@diaboliketrackfreak30147 жыл бұрын
each bearing cost 100 euros ,the locker cost 700
@Broncocarl927 жыл бұрын
Diabolike Trackfreek you need to look for installation kit should have all parts needed. 700 euros is a lot to risk not replacing the bearings. but that's up to you. good luck

You need to buy carrier adjuster tool and set the carrier bearings preload to at least 100 foot pounds if bearings used, 150 pounds if new. Tapping them with a hammer and scredriver will not set them enough. locktup4x4.com.au/carrier-adjuster-tool-1313.html www.ebay.com.au/itm/ARB-Carrier-Side-Adjuster-Pliers-Set-Backlash-Preload-/230790109816?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item35bc299a78 Pinion bearing preload should be around 15 inch pounds rolling resistance, use one of these www.ebay.com.au/itm/Park-Tool-TW-1-Torque-Wrench-0-60-Inch-Pounds-1-4-/400598171104?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item5d4582fde0 Buy a 20t press from harbour freight for installing the pinion bearing races, and do a bleed down test for ten min after the arb seals installed or you might end up with oil back up into the solenoid.
