They have teeny, tiny little rubber bands in the children's section of craft stores for some kind of kid's art art & craft thing that's popular. I've also seen them in the hair brush & barrettes section of Dollar Tree.

I think that you're resourceful enough that with a couple of tries you could put a detent ball in those stamp mandrels. The smaller one is a bit trickier because it's, well, so small. As an alternative, maybe you drill and tap the tip/end (hopefully a #4-40 is small enough) then attach a small circle of rubber or leather to the tip with a small flatwasher and screw. Another idea I had is to reduce the diameter of the the smallest diameter part then cut some small grooves and put some heat shrink tubing over the end. This should give a friction fit like an o-ring. Or, shorten the tip of the mandrel a bit and drop a small magnet into the attachment hole on the back of the stamp, with a bit of epoxy or silicone glue. This will probably be the best working solution, but it means you have to add a magnet to each/all the small stamps. Otherwise, depending on how many of the small stamps you have, or at least for the ones you use often, just make a mandrel for each of them.

What about a magnet for the end of the stamp posts?
@Robinson-Homestead3 жыл бұрын
That would work thanks for the idea

Air hole could go in the bit so you don’t have to still all the stamps

I like that mod. I'm curious if you can get an extra stamp handle with the ball bearing in it and cut/file it down instead of using stock. That would give you the same thing but with the ball bearing.

hi would you happen to have a list of tools/accessories for turning steel pls/ty

I would have center drilled the holder then cross drilled from the side. That would eliminate modifying any new stamps.

Have you tried a small piece of clear plastic tubing to hold the smaller punch together ?

Make it a tight hot fit to the stamp and call it good. 3/8 round stock is cheap so why not just make a fresh rod for each stamp ?

Could you cut a round piece of plastic cutting board for your table. Put a centre pin ( split pin ) in it and corresponding centre hole in metal table.

Perhaps you might want to cut/modify some leather punches to use in the press if you start doing a lot of leather work (belts/straps)?

Couldn't you just weld one of your old sockets onto the stamps and just use that extension attachment you modified to put the stamp directly onto? And if not put a small magnet in the bottom of the stamp hole.
@Robinson-Homestead5 жыл бұрын
Good idea but not sure.
@jonathanthiessen68693 жыл бұрын
@@Robinson-Homestead Rather than welding a socket to it, you could remove the metal around the hole on the top of the stamp and use the sockets for more even pressure on the larger stamps.

No limit now to where you can take this. The o'ring may work but a detent ball really isn't hard to do bud. Drill a hole and lightly stake it in place.
