Thanks to Uilson from the Discord server for the help and additional Ideas. Hey Guys. I used the fact that Arbor Tree Branches grow at a fixed 25°C to cool down stuff. In short: Tree branches grow at 25°C but hate full tiles of liquids so they get destroyed once they reach it. But they absorb the heat of the liquid tiles first. So -> heat deletion.

It never ceases to amaze me all the kinds of ridiculous, amazing and brilliant _bullshit_ the ONI community can come up with. I can't believe this is actually a semi-viable cooling solution, this is absolutely hilarious. I hope Klei doesn't change this, honestly. This is just hilarious.

That said, this is by far the trickiest cooling setup I've ever seen. If you already have trees, I think it's much easier to setup an ethanol boiler to cool an aquatuner, which can then provide cooling wherever you need it.
@Tamizushi
@Tamizushi Жыл бұрын
I've made worst. Bypassing the mine 125 celcius steam temperature by feeding 0.5 g/s of hot steam to a single steam turbine inlet, leaving 3 inlets to suck cold steam (a 5ft inlet blocked by an insulated tile to keep low pressure hot steam separated from higher pressure cold steam). Boiling polluted water. Using a heat exchanger to cool down the outgoing steam with the incoming polluted water. Then using the "hacked" turbine to put the steam into liquid pipes as water. Using that warm water to preheat the pdirt. It was all just an excuse to boil pwater using the minimum possible amount of heat and without spending any power. Everything was working on minuscule temp ranges, it was very unstable. Wouldn't recommend. The finickiest part of it was that after self-cooling, the water coming out of steam turbines was about 95.5 to 96 celcius, but pwater needed to be at least 96.35 celcius to avoid condensating the cold steam coming out of the exchanger. I spend way to long trying to give the very minimum amount of heat to it so the whole things doesn't break. There whole system was balanced on a needle.

That is the worst cooling system in the game, probably better to just use ice makers. If you have arbor trees and ethanol, the better cooling method is to use aquatuner to dump heat into the lumber before it is destroyed. You need metal tiles to provide decent heat exchange. Arbor trees give 500 gr/s of lumber and if you have 4 trees and add 20 degrees of heat into that lumber before destruction that is quarter of the capacity for a water-based aquatuner. Heat it up by 40 degrees and that is an aquatuner with 50% uptime cooled by lumber only. You can also store some lumber and increase capacity whenever you need it. Unlike the ethanol boiler, which provides something like 10% cooling of the capacity of the aquatuner, all the power you put into this system will go into net cooling.

This is a challenge to build without sandbox -- guessing you start with a complete vacuum box - and since its vertical - use like a run off method to stack/drop the liquids from a tap
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
Yes i think it would be challenging in survival. I would try to use exact measures via the liquid meter valve. Then you need to get a pip to plant the seed or the other way around what fits you best. the natural tile can either be created or be planned beforehand.

According to Professor Oakshell's Cooling Calculator, cooling 1 KG per second of Hydrogen from 500c to 140c is ~864,000 DTU worth of cooling, or about ~144,000 DTU of cooling per tree, or about the equivalent of 12 domestic wheezeworts. I know Arbor trees have always been possible to use for heat deletion by dumping tons of heat into lumber on rails before burning it, but doing so isn't quite as efficient as this (estimated hydrogen output would be ... ~250*c, ish?) and is definitely more complex. This you can just about plop down anywhere for easy cooling, as you handily demonstrated cooling down steam turbines! Great find!

I tried to come up qith a quick seed producing method for the pacu and someone suggested the arbor tree seed farm (Originally from Fradow as far aa i researched) but then we noticed, that pacu no longer eat seeds feom every plant. Only specific seeds. So I unlisted the video. But we noticed that the Temperature in our setups was stable and triwd to immediately use that for cooling. After a bit of testing this first crude setuo came into existence. I don't know if that already has been discovered as a cooling method and if klei knows about that.

why patch, tho? it is not really op, and fiddly enough to stay as it is. then again, how exactly you see it patched? sharing temperature branches to root? then it can be used as a tempshift plate substitute, ahahah

Very cool. I think it's worth mentioning that if you can use self-cooling to supplement another form of cooling, you probably should, as it recycles the aquatuner's heat into the steam room, increasing the overall system's efficiency.

If you put the dropped lumber on conveyor rails and drag it through the metal tiles you could draw out even more heat. If then input into distiller you destroy heat even.
@Luma_plays

That is true good catch. Though we do not get any lumber from this setup. At all. you could leave the top tile unblocked to get a bit lumber every ?18? cycles i think. Not sure that is worth the conveyor rail materials.

How many joules of heat are deleted by one tree at various temperatures? How does this compare to an aquatuner?
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays Жыл бұрын
We would also like tp know. I Don't know yet. Nobody wanted to do the math me included. You have the mass of the branches their conductivity and the often random times they grow and all the different material conductivities and mass. Sounds like alot of variables
@austinglander1337
@austinglander1337 Жыл бұрын
@@Luma_plays A lot of variables for a theoretical calculation, but why not just do an experimental one based on your data for 100 cycles? You know the volume of hydrogen moved and the temperature change, so you should be able to calculate how many joules were removed from the hydrogen. Then just divide that number by how many trees you have and the amount of seconds in your experiment and you should have a fairly accurate value for the heat deletion of each tree in Joules / second. The only quirk I can see is that the amount of heat deletion depends on the hydrogen input temp (greater heat deletion with higher temps), so you'd have to repeat the experiment at different temps to tabulate these values.

@@Luma_plays i've just discovered that bonbon tree branch spawn at a fixed -18~-19C, at 8kg with 3.47SHC. take 25C at the desired temp, with perfect condition, a branch delete (25+19)*8000*3.47=1.2 M DTU, compared to 10kg of supercoolant which running through an aquatuner only delete ~1.18 M DTU. the setup is pretty simple just get bonbon tree to a vaacum, use mercury to drown the branch as mercury has a 8. of thermal conductivity which is perfect to drain the cooling off the branch and a mechanized door to control the cool

Good planning, Pips and Water logs. The planning part is just keeping dirt (or any other plantable tile) around. Pips to plant the Trees. Waterlogged entrance and Air Pump to create the Vacuum. Then just build it layer for layer.
