Even though I don’t (currently!) have any arcade machines, I really enjoyed this video. Really good instructions and advice, and the end result was awesome. Great vid 👍

Thanks for watching!! I'm really glad to hear the vid was able to be followed easily. It's always tricky knowing what to include and what to cut. Hopefully it helps others to make or repair arcades on a budget. 😀👍

@@RetroEdUK Me too! These little hacks or unconventional DIY projects are the reason I started a channel. I've used so many and figured there may be someone out there that could use mine. 🍻

@@TheGameroomAwakens I love that! I’d be living in a cave if it wasnt for people like you teaching some skills. My dad never showed me any diy-related things so i don’t know what I’d have done without KZbin. When I’ve got a bit more space I’d love to do some (simple!) arcade projects. Cheers! 🍻🍻

Awesome video, used this method on a mounted dell monitor for a 4 player swap paired with plexiglass for the Arcade 1up.

Wow thanks! I appreciate the kind words! Never say never. If you're interested in owning an arcade it can be done with minimal cash. The time investment is not something you can avoid if doing it on the cheap unfortunately. Thanks for taking an interest in this vid 😁👍

Cheers for this. Part way through doing a coffee table build and i was wondering how best to hide the bottom bezel of the monitor when i put the glass on. The monitor only has a bottom bezel and it sits right up to the glass, so no worries with seeing stuff at anges. Looks like a decent way of doing it and i'll be giving it a try. Thanks for the upload and tips :)

Great job! Awesome! Have you ever experienced that in removing the tape, some of the paint comes off?
@TheGameroomAwakens
@TheGameroomAwakens 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Not that I can recall on one of these jobs but I always peel the tape away from the paint. My oldest job must be over 7 years old now and the paint looks the same as when I did it BUT I have accidently scraped the paint on other jobs and it can damage if not treated with care. 😁👍

This is brilliant I just got a 27inch arcade cab an was curious if I can ditch the plexiglass for actual glass & paint ....what type of glass are useing in your cabinet

Thanks a bunch for checking it out! Glad people are making use of it. Some of my machines have thin plexi as it keeps down cost and weight but definitely not fit for commercial use. My ones with glass have safety glass installed. They often have the same or similar markings to that in cars. Any glazier should be able to cut you some safety glass to size. My lightgun arcade had standard glass which I removed as soon as I got it. Not worth the risk imo. I've painted using this method on both glass and plexi with very similar results. 👍

Can you use water based paint? I can't seem to find oil based ?
@TheGameroomAwakens
@TheGameroomAwakens 3 жыл бұрын
I personally have never used water based. Oil based paint is also called enamel paint. It is a harder wearing paint that can withstand a little flexing, will last longer, and adheres better to glass and plastic so it'd be worth asking the hardware or paint store assistants to see what they have that is similar. 😁👍
