I heard it was a lot more complex in the Japanese original, with custom dialog for every character and a story introduction screen with some text about the set up of the story. I think they translated it properly for the Playstation release

The original Japanese version actually had a story that was removed in the International versions of the arcade release. It's nothing exactly really all that special, essentially the story tells of there being a magical island of paradise, inside a magical book called "The Magical Drop", and that when on the island, anyone can make any type of wish using the "Magical Drops". A tournament that is literally named "Magical Drop Tournament" gets held to determine who should be allowed to use the Magical Drops to make wishes, and so, the battle for the chance to obtain the Magical Drops begins....

@@MrDibara It's not uncommon that japanese games remove story or just replace it with few line of words when releasing in west... mostly because local publishers consider that story is not important and not worth to cost money to translate them.

Same reason why there are only 4 different voice samples, and the text is always the same for the 'story mode' with the story part 100% removed. The "World" release was so degraded from the Japanese version is just insane.

Why it's one credit run? Two options: 1° Difficulty was changed to Easy (Level is not displayed on screen, so this could explain it all). 2° The World version is easier than the Japanese. I play the Japanese at Normal (Level 4) and it's harder than this. Actually from Stage 7 and above, it's too difficult to defeat the opponent in Quota. They clear bubbles faster than this... You have to admit that only the final boss was really, really hard...

Tower and Fortune can end your 1 credit clear run within seconds, they are hard. Black Pierro, especially in the PS1 version can seemingly teleport, and literally beat you in seconds.

Having a eu/usa bios makes the game easier, also, purposely stalling early bosses decreases rank which makes the game easier At max rank the enemy starts teleporting on stage 10 in the jp version and stage 11 on the international version.

the Pink haired lady is suppose to be a heavenly "fairy" which generaly does not wear any clothes expect her robe. There is a "pan" in this game. In japanese, sometimes a sub man or (woman) calls a dominant woman(in D/S sessions) "my empress!!!! 0(Watashi no jo-ousama )" Also the empress is talking in the way that represents her "dominance" .. In Japan, basically It is the one of the comical streotypes of "the empress"

If it's an Arcade Archives version, you can choose the Japanese version, and all characters will have their own voices. The timers thing has always been a thing for even the PS1 and Saturn Magical Drop games.
