For a cheesy and weird game, it had one of the best art styles for an arcade shooter. You couldn't really find anything else as creative in its appearance as CarnEvil. Although, the game could've used a whole lot less spots of taking instant-damage.

"For an arcade shooter" what are you talking about? The art style is one of the main attractions that any successful rail-shooter excels at. It's pretty much the main attraction because otherwise there's not exactly a lot of unique or deep gameplay mechanics that could make it stand out.

@Vega Yagami While it's not exactly the same experience and you must be willing to do something legally grey, it's relatively easy and cheap to recreate the experience at home. WHAT YOU NEED: 1) An old office PC from around 10 years ago (you can find one used for typically less than $100, although you may need to get a SSD but you could prolly get away with a decent one for like $25). 2) the Rom AND CHD files for CarnEvil (you're on your own there. Google is your friend). 3) A Wii Sensor Bar ($10 on Amazon. There's the "candle" trick if you don't want a dedicated bar, but live fires are dangerous for your TV/Monitor) 4) Two official Wiimotes (clones won't work, Amazon has them refurbished for like $26 each at the moment) 5) Wiimote Gun holders (they come in a set of two for $20-$30) 6) the ability to flash Batocera onto the computer's hard drive. There's some pretty good guides out there both on setting up Batocera AND setting up CarnEvil on it specifically, and while you won't have 100% the same experience, it's still going to be a blast to play.

This looks great! Like a cartoonier version of Sega's House of the Dead. Can't believe this was never ported to any home console.

Lol, perhaps the creepiest part of all this is the fact that a random person walked into an ethereal theme park with little to no backstory and just started murdering everyone with a series of firearms. 😂😂

I wonder if, because it's so damn easy to summon CarnEvil, the Greely Valley locals are just completely desensitized to it. They hear the distant blaring of carnival music and it's just "Well there goes my evening plans. Wonder if there's anything on that's loud enough to let me ignore that."

This game is one of the best games I have ever seen in arcade history! There should have been a remastered version of the game! Maybe Warner Bros. Games can make an adaptation of this game. I also hope that SEGA would provide the players with the best arcade experience for a remastered version of the game! I honestly wish that Midway wouldn't be defunct, because I honestly hope that Midway would produce some really great lite-gun games!

Local Legend - When the Moon is full and trees are bare, Walk through the Cemetery if you dare. Where skeletons rot and corpses fester, Locate the tomb with the skull of a Jester. Feed him the token all shiny and new, it is then that CarnEvil will return for YOU! Pure Brilliance…

What a flashback. Going to the arcade on a Saturday in the local mall to spend allowance money followed by a trip to media play for a new cd. The late 90s was a good time.
