Arcade Longplay - Venture (1981) Exidy

One of my favorite games to play as a kid, but I never got this far. I remember as a kid that reaching the third level was a really big deal, and the hall monsters became a really big issue and hard to avoid. You have either some amazing luck, or you just know this game inside and out! Either way its excellent execution! Thank you for posting this!

This was huge when it came out in the arcade. Combined Berserk with the big D&D fad that had been going on since the '70s.

when i was a child , this game terrifies me , the big head of the monsters who came in the rooms when you take too much time is F scary for a little child ^^' Thx for this big part of nostalgia , i go back in time for 10 mins :)

@@auremilka :D I've installed ColEm , an android emulator for the colecovision , i (re)played Venture , and when this "head" monsters comes , the sound still give me the chicken skin , not very scary , but it give me a strange felling and almost a stress , even 20-25 years later ^^' I can't imagine what kind of trauma some kids of the actual generation will have , see how realistic the games are now ... :O

Ok, wait the walls that move don't hurt you and you can shoot outside the rooms? I don't remember that on the Colecovision version.

Superb playing ! I was looking for the video where someone had massive skill and did not invoke cheats. You met that ! Why is this game so hard ? Because in higher levels the game cheats big time. You cannot shoot the enemies if they are more than a dozen pixels away. They deliberately avoid your shots. The only way you can shoot them at this point is if they are right up against you and you shoot diagonally. You can see when you start a level on the Hall Monsters that they also cheat by traveling much faster than the player can go. Only with superb navigation can you even hope of entering a room.

Artificial Intelligence in computing is about passive:agressiveness; in the deeper levels of Venture the A.I. controlled threats become more aggressive compared to the passive types in the earlier levels.

Venture liked me too much, arcade version, this game I saw three-four times in arcades, but was very terrific! And I join too to those that they are scared when Hallmonster enters in the room when stay in too long, and for this reason, was the first thing I liked me this game and if you see Hallmonsters remember the aliens of Space Invaders. About the arcade game, yes is very hard but theonly critic is that you go beyond on third level after you taken all 36 treasures, it's a shame, and they join another fourth level with green and yellow colour, but the game remains a great game, and I have the coleco version too

Anyone remember a game with the same "perspective" and general gameplay, but the weapons could be a laser, a machine gun, or a flamethrower? And the monsters were sometimes amorphous blobs? Can't think of the name.

Hey, sorry to be a bother, but I was wondering if you could direct me to where you got the ROM for this? I've been doing a search so I could try some runs myself, but I keep running into an issue of missing files, and apparently the version of the ROM I'm finding is just incomplete.

A shame this was on MAME. (Great playing tho!) I am trying to find samples of the correct audio that I remember from my childhood that MAME dosen't get right.
