Winner: Arcade. Because a single bird with explosive diarrhea threatening the life of an attention-seeking stunt climber is a much funnier game scenario than everyone in the building trying to off the local pest by throwing household goods at him.

I remember another comparison of this game, it did not seem great then. This is a weird tie for me. Winner Without Sound: Arcade Winner With Sound: NES I watched this without any sound first and the Arcade is looks good. Then I was curious on the sounds the bird with stomach issues had, straight up terrible. The arcade didn't look very easy and timing/location is everything. Nice job sir!

To me there's no winner on this one lol! The controls on this are horrible though I can't really blame MAME for that as it's a very specific setup on the actual arcade cabinet. I think a lot of home ports offer a 2 controller setup but IMO that doesn't make it any easier. Thanks for watching buddy!

I've seen this game but never looked very appealing to me either version lol 😅 but the nes one doesn't look bad. Nice comparison. 👍🏼

I didn't know that. Well I have to give this game more props in that case.

@RetroComparisons Crazy Climber has much more complex controls and if you notice it's also a direct inspiration to Donkey Kong Jungle Climber on Nintendo DS !!!

I got a chance to play Crazy Climber and Crazy Climber 2 both at Galloping Ghost arcade pre-covid. The first game is fun, and the sequel quite a bit cooler and more fun. But, up until then, I had only played the Atari 2600 version, which we picked up used probably in the late 80s, maybe even real early 90s. I've never played the NES version. It's kind of difficult to say either way, but I would give a slight edge to the graphics in the NES port mainly for background clouds lol. Otherwise, I'm not sure whether this is a good a port or not. If it plays similar to the Atari VCS/2600 port, then it's actually probably actually nicer to just pick up and play than the arcade. If it plays more like the arcade version though, well, that's tough too. If you can only play the arcade version in MAME and not an actually cabinet (and I'd have to drive 5-5.5 hours to play one that I know of), I'd say maybe a draw. If you can play a working actual Crazy Climber cabinet, it's different and fun for a few goes at least, and CC 2 is even better if you can play it. Otherwise, I prefer how the 2600 version plays, so whether the NES version is good or not probably comes down to control in the end.

That's cool that you got to play the real cabinets for these. I personally can't stand this game because of the controller layout but this is another like Marble Madness where playing it the way it's meant to be would make this go from like a 2 out of 10 to an 8 out of 10. I think that 2600 port may be my favorite out of all of the home versions I've tried because it's the easiest to control. The NES port is just as bad as some of the others that I tried though maybe this has 2 controller support? I didn't try that out to be honest, I just wanted to get enough footage to make a video and move on.
