Great video man no one has better production values! One point of clarification: Caveman Ninja + Bad Dudes are 8 way games so switching it up to 4 way gates still leaves those games compromised.

actually it doesn't negative impact the gameplay, neither game really is dependent on diagonal movements on screen since both games are on fixed backgrounds that scroll. Changing to 4 way does not limit the characters movement abilities negatively in the big picture.

I really enjoyed the retro buzz last night and really hope they release their own light up marquees for the older cabinets. They are just so nice. I bought this cabinet but haven't built it yet. The email I received from A1UP to solve this problem stated that I would be receiving 8 way gates, not 4 way gates. Sure enough, I received 8 ways! This just the opposite of what you are saying. Anybody else get the same email and same 8 way gates? Thanks for the video COOLTOY. Looking forward to building my cabinet and enjoying it.

Caveman Ninja and Bad Dudes used 8 way joysticks originally, however neither game relied heavily on diagonal movement for their gameplay so I personally found the best solution to be to use the 4 way "diamond" style gates in my cabinet overall for all 4 games. The 8 way gates that Arcade1Up provided will give you a better experience than the 4 way "square" gates that came stock on games like Burger Time, but a marginal improvement overall in my opinion. One of the reasons I showcased and suggested the specific gates I used in this video are because the middle section is convertible and you can set to the gates to either use the 4 way diamond or the 8 way octagonal restriction if you prefer. So it's kind of like the best of both worlds since it gives the player the option to choose whatever works best for them. Because in the end, all that matters is that you enjoy the gaming experience overall, no matter how you arrive to that conclusion with your personal tastes or joystick configurations. Enjoy your new cabinet!

So I got an email today... saying they sent out 8 way gates to fix the problem. I tried to contact David on twitter to confirm it was an error... Apparently the email was a bit late because I checked the mail and found the gates already delivered... and they're 8 way gates... How do they manage to screw up this bad twice. Do you have four way gates or a square gate? Four way prevents you from moving diagonal. Square gates let you move 8 ways, but you only feel the corners with the joystick.

I have to disagree on one thing you said, but it needs some correcting. Bade Dudes definitely needs 8 way, and would not benefit from a 4 way. (Technically CMN too). But i have long played Bad Dudes, and the only way to super jump diagonally is to press an 8 way joystick diagonal up and hit the jump button. Otherwise you lose that move. I’m not familiar with CMN that much , but it came with an 8 way too. So you would take away from two games, to benefit for 1.

Restricting the diagonal movements with a 4 way plate does not negatively impact the gameplay in the big picture for either Bad Dudes or Caveman Ninja. I played both games for hours with the original 8 way gates and then the 4 way gates, and you are not going to miss the 8 way trust me. Without a doubt the 4 way gates are the way to go for this cabinet. Additionally it's not just BurgerTime that benefits, Karate Champ is dependent on 4 way sticks as well. Best part about the restrictor gates I showed in the video is that they are convertible and the user can move the middle piece and set it as either 8 or 4 way depending on whatever their preference is.

I'm upset it's not going to be released at any walmarts or retailers. My question is did they fix the glitch where once in a while if you tap to go up or left or right, the player will freeze, or not move up a ladder unless you repeatedly tap to move. This can cost you a life. I have this for mame and really would like this cab because it's one of my favorite games. I was wondering about the 4 joysticks and think it should just be two. I like having extra arm room and hand room. It's good you are happy with the game lost, but food fight included and tapper would have made so much more sense. Beer and food. Plus the simplicity. Never cared much for bad dudes or caveman ninja. Toki is more fun in that style imo. I'd have added an airplane shooter game to this like raiden, or a game like cabal, jackal, or mercs. Love the marquee and cabinet though. Just not sure if it's worth 400.

This cabinet should have stayed karate champ as the controls are positioned for that game and not burgertime.Burgertime is pretty much unplayable with the 8way joystick.After contacting arcade 1up they offered to send me an octagon restrict plate ???? That will still be 8 way do they not know math. Also so far my red player on karate champ is very glithchy anyone else have this issue.

@@cooltoy I apparently do not have Bad Dudes to confirm, but Caveman Ninja does in fact use 8 way. I am not sure how consequential it is, but when you jump while pushing forward and up, you do a somersault jump forward. Jump and up is somersault up. Jump and forward is a jump forward without somersault.

Could I ask you a question? We received our Burgertime, we really like it. Is there a plastic protective film that should be peeled off of the marquee? I can't tell if there is. Also when registering the cabinet at Arcade1up they have no Burgertime option to select from. LOL. I figured that you would know. Thanks 😎🍔

There was no protective film on my marquee, just the plastic wrapping that it was whole marquee was packed in. Sounds like they haven't updated the website yet to include the BurgerTime cabinet as an option for registering it. It would be worth an email to their customer service team to let them know, as I'm sure its just an oversight.
