I got the MyArcade version when it was released. The moment I played it and found the controls so unforgiving, I turned it off and just stuck it on the shelf never to be played again. I always blamed it on the screen being so small, that I couldn’t see exactly where I was allowed to turn. When I saw the Super Impulse version, I figured no way, that screen is even tinier. Looks like Super Impulse compensated and made the game actually playable.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, Allen, but it is reassuring to know that I'm not alone in my assessment of that ROM/controller combination. Individually they may be fine, but together they add up to my little chef getting repeatedly and unceremoniously terminated!

I agree, the My Arcade version's cab art looks NOTHING like the actual Arcade cab. Also his hat has an H instead of a P.

You actually reviewed the MyArcade BurgerTime when you first got the Galaga and Dig Dug ones in a past video. You might've thrown out the instructions when reviewing it in that video

There’s a glitch in the tiny arcades I found while hacking extra games out of them. It has to do with the speed of the running game. You can get the game to run slower or faster. Which doesn’t make a difference really because it also slows down your avatar, but this will give you time to think. Games like Pac-Man get much easier when they run slower. Burger time can also benefit from this slowed down play. Point is, is the tiny version really that fast running? Or is it one of these glitches? Seems pretty fast passed for Burger Time, even a completely re-written Burger Time shouldn’t be that fast paced.

Have you done a review of the Data East Classics 10" cabinet? It includes BurgerTime, Super BurgerTime, and a faithful non-NES Heavy Barrel, amongst a bunch of other games. I'm new at collecting these things, but I LOVE this cabinet outside of the stretched screen (not sure why they did that). It's distracting a bit but doesn't really affect gameplay. Also, USB only power is disappointing -- would rather use batteries. Love your channel and can't wait for more entries!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Tiny Arcades.The shape of the cabinet, the marquee, good game play...I have a bunch of them displayed like an arcade. However, here in Canada, they arrived late and I never saw Burger time, Mappy, TMNT (or any of the others of that wave) arrive up here, which was frustrating. Also wished they had made Popeye or Donkey Kong (which is my fave cabinet). When you turn down the lights and them all on, you get that cool Arcade ambient feel. thanks for this.

I'm really enjoying the My Arcade series, of which I have Burgertime, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug. I may get more single My Arcade units, though the Dreamgear mini 36 in 1 might be more practical for the remaining titles - if lower than retail. Three additional arcade games that I'd like to see through My Arcade (or something comparable) are: Mr. Do's Castle, Gyruss and Popeye.

These are all neat to me but like Funkopops, just too slippery of a slope. But I love your reviews and comparisons of them. Molly has gotten really into Burgertime recently and has been playing it on the Arcade1up. This is another game like PacMan whose NES port I really liked. Of course the arcade version should be preferred but I played a ton of Burgertime on NES.

Bought and returned several My arcade cabs early 2021, including this BT and Ms Pacman, also tried a tiny arcade. Problems were the tiny arcade was, well, too tiny for my big hands and glasses. The My Arcades are a great size for shelf display mini and controls, but my issues were with the emulation and authenticity. I expected the arcade rom and perfect rendition. Vertical games should have used a vertical screen with correct aspect, and no stretching That said, I did keep the My arcade Micro player Space Invaders. They knocked it out of the park with that unit, replicating the reflecting screen and backdrop cabinet

Persisting high scores!! For a guy like me who hacks everything for max value and a hobby, it would be fun to figure out a way to get my other Tiny games to save high scores. With Tiny Arcade games, they weren’t meant to be turned off. They turn themselves off after 15 seconds of rest. When it’s used like this, the high scores persist on all Tiny games. Even the first run. Just leave them on. Edit. When sleeping, any button will wake up the game. Basically making all buttons the “power on” button.

I've certainly seen them that low on occasion. Sometimes even cheaper if you catch them in a clearance mood. But then, than can be said for all of these collectible cabinets.

Honestly, a real arcade Burger Time has the same "missed the turn" joystick problem, so I wouldn't necessarily fault the MyArcade unit. The reason it's easier in the Tiny Arcade to make those turns, I think, is because the number of steps on the ladders is far fewer so it's not as easy to be on that last step and not know it when trying to make a turn, if that makes any sense. The Tiny Arcade is a rewrite with much lower resolution, so they had to make that step change because there aren't enough pixels to represent all those steps (especially on that tiny screen). For a difference of only about $5 I would definitely choose the MyArcade over the Tiny.

Hey, Wasted. I can relate to the ladder tolerances on the genuine article, but the MA release is even more frustrating than I remember the cabinet being. That being said, if you enjoy the NES version, the micro player isn't necessarily a bad choice.

I got the MyArcade version of Burgertime and I agree. My big frustration was the controls. I didn't have an issue with the "Nintendo on a chip" part though. I eventually graduated to the Data East MyArcade collection cabinet (which has the actual arcade roms). The slightly bigger screen made it alittle easier to play (still same control though). By the way, BurgerTime 2 (came of the same device) is just weird :)

Great comparison video. I’ve never been a very big fan of Burger Time so don’t really have a dog in this fight, but I’d definitely go for the Tiny Arcade unit, impressive what they have packed into such a tiny shell. And I know the My Arcade unit is about two years old, but this is just more evidence they really need to step up their game and stop using NES roms whenever it’s reasonable, Premium line not withstanding.

The My Arcade version definitely nailed the look but it seems like they couldn't get the controls right. The Super Impulse version looks plain and kinda generic but somehow they managed to make it very playable despite the smaller scale. The My Arcade definitely looks more appealing for display but I was not a fan of the look of the joystick. I got the Space Invaders My Arcade and it's definitely a step up in quality (it's one from the premium line-up so that makes sense).
