It'll be interesting how well they can emulate a decently-graphic hungry game. Also kinda interesting that it's a another Best Buy exclusive (at least for now). I think if they get they emulation right, and no major other SNAFUs, this could be a hit. And as it's the only truly new title offered so far from A1up, they might need it to be... great content as always Dubs!

Im personally glad that it includes The Fast and the Furious AND F&F Drift, because both are amazing Crusin reskins, and Drift was especially good, it being one of the games I always played in the arcade.

I don't really care for the game itself....however, the 4 gear shifter and being able to link them makes me want to buy 2. I got T2, MK2 deluxe, street fighter legacy, golden axe, and ninja turtles in my pizza parlor and they're a HUGE hit! My hands are tied I think....gotta get at least 2 of them. I think you can link 4? But don't quote me on that!

I wasn't at all interested until...you can link them? Now that's cool. Why not link via an ethernet cable? Master machine on wifi, slave connected to master via ethernet. If the price drops, I'll consider 2. Also, hall effect. I use hall effect gimbals on my drone controllers, it's an expensive upgrade but the precision and longevity are unparalleled. But I can't see the advantage in the shifter other than it lasting longer. Very cool review.

I noticed that when I checked the cabinet for arcade1up, they got rid of a key pad number, meaning is there's possibly way to save upgrades and times without using the keypad. A key pad number is a feature on any racing arcade games that saves your progress.

If we see one theses cabinet’s we always play the fast and furious or super bikes by same company raw thrills. It’s a nostalgia thing for me… funny release date same as our wedding day anniversary.😅

Appreciate your review and insight. As a tall guy at 6'2 I liked the idea of the deluxe 1pc extra height at first seeing it - but then I realized that limits it to stand up only. My RR is boosted on a mini fridge stand, and I'll probably add BSA inserts eventually to get it even higher. But, if I wanted to I could convert it to sit down easily enough using riser as stool and pulling the front panel (or going full out w BSA kit). Not an option here. Second thought was, talking stock games only - I am personally more of RR fan than FnF/Cruisin. I've got BSA mod coming eventually for RR too so for me, at that point the only thing left is the cool new 4 way shifter, the 2 games and their ability to link the cabs. Since I never played FnF in the arcade or on home consoles more recently either, there isn't any nostalgia & the bright extreme Monster Energy drink vibe art just isn't doing it for me. I also thought that having '18 courses' over 2 games where you are smashing nitro pedal more like driving style vs racing style, personally less enjoyable than the techniques involved in the RR games even though there may not be as many actual tracks (easy to learn / hard to master). I'm super happy for the folks who are waiting for this and the linkability option for those who have the means.

I asked in the comments of the announcement video and John d confirmed that it will have licensed cars. So that is good. The gameplay framerate looked choppy but it could have been due to the phone video. 30fps on a racing game is disappointing but maybe the original version was at that framerate. I am more familiar with the updated supercars version. It has updated visuals

I asked him if he has the Dodge Charger/Toyota Supra/Nissan Skyline GTR/Mitsubishi Evo. Those are the most iconic cars in the movies and arcade game. Will see if he replies back.

The price is good, but I'm working on going after Pac-Man Deluxe, to put next to Class of 81 Deluxe, at the moment. Hopefully, there will still be F&F cabs available, once I have funds built up, again. It looks like a great cabinet. Pretty sure it would've been over the 700 dollar mark if it had true force feedback, but vibration feedback is still pretty fun. Thanks for the note on pre-order availability. :)

I'm sure a bunch of people will grab 2 for linked play. But the frame drop to 30fps and visual drop might be rough if you're used to the arcade version. Understandably, it uses lesser hardware. But for me it's hard to go to this version with such a big frame/smoothness drop of the original. I'm sure people will enjoy it though.

@@PiUmPz these were details highlighted by Arcade1up on their official channel announcement. Technically 960p since it’s still a 4:3. 30fps. If you’ve played the original arcade games, you’ll notice the significant frame rate get cut in half compared to the preview videos. It’s not as smooth. You can also notice reduced texture detail, reflections, and shadows. This game is probably more comparable to the Wii version titled “Cruis’n”, which was FNF reskinned without the movie license.

If you are in the Clark county area of southern Nevada, I have a gently used Ridge Racer cab for sale. It is a veritable clean slate for those who want to mod it. Non-smoker, pet-free home. I live alone so this cab has not been hammered on by little kids or drunk partiers. Although I must admit to probably having been over the legal limit a time or three, while playing it. Asking $475 but make me an offer I can't refuse. Open to non-arcade trades as well. (PDub, feel free to remove this, if it's not allowed - no harm, no foul.)

PDubs, I think this is an overall win for Arcade1up. The cabinet may not be for me, but I will probably seek out way to play the game as it looks up my alley. Just looking at the cabinet and what we now know, I think the pros are the link ability, the cabinet artwork (minus the Fast & Furious branding), the wheel and the shifter. I'm not keeping too much faith towards the pedals as Arcade1up is synonymous with the "cut corner" ideology, and since they didn't think to say something extra about them, I'd caution anyone to wait for a review before ordering one. The cons, and the reasons I'm not picking one up personally... - Two games, especially when this cabinet can handle so much more (I know, licensing, yada-yada-yada) - Like you, I've seen this game SO MANY times in the arcade and passed it up. Not that this game might not be great, I'm sure this is a favorite for a lot of folks, but other racers just appealed more to me. - I have no love for the Fast and Furious franchise. In fact, the movies I did force myself to watch (1, 2, 5, and barely the first part of 9), REALLY SUCKED! (my opinion, of course) - The new one piece design. I just don't have the strength any longer to lug things around. I'm so happy for those who are now getting one piece design cabinets, they're just not for me. I LOVES ME RISERS :) Risers don't take away any nostalgia or look factor for me, but I can understand how they don't appeal to some. It would have to be a zinger of a cabinet for me to purchase a new one piece design... Something like a Q*Bert :P :) Just kidding, though I do hope you get a 3/4 Scale sized Q*Bert someday :) Great day for Arcade1up. The 4 way shifter is a great addition. I don’t think your going to get the full experience of that shifter with these games . I did just okay Daytona in mmm at an arcade with that shifter and it was a lot of fun and felt right . So maybe next year :) People in some 1up groups I’m in are saying that they are ordering two and I think there’s def more excitement from people who grew up in the 90 s as it holds more nostalgia for them But I love when new cabs come out . Even if it’s not one I’m planning on getting It’s a lot of fun

Pdubz it’s not taller then ridge racer. Ridge racer is about 65 1/2 inches tall. F&F will be shorter by a few inches.. steering wheel and screen display should be the same height as ridge racer.
