***** New generation? First off, I'm almost 26. Secondly, I have beaten Shao Khan many times(mainly with Liu Kang.)in MK2 and MK3. And after a while it wasn't so hard anymore. And I still concider MK9 Shao Khan to be harder. Thirdly: MK3 was one of the first fighting games I've ever played in my life. I used to play it a few times a week on the SNES; at a friends place because my parents couldn't afford one. I've been a fan ever since, even throughout the lesser MK games that came out in the early 2000's. So don't be quick to judge and calling people kids.

Sorry that my methods aren't the same as yours, that my method offends and that I "suck". I'm not hardcore or that super good. I just used a way to win the game and I try to enjoy myself. And for your information I have played the older games. Mainly MKII, I only played MK1 a few times because it felt inferior after playing MK3 first. It felt like going backwards. Good for you that played them at the arcades. I didn't mind the arcades much because we didn't really have them in my country. And I actually agree with you about disgracefull micro transactions, Goro locked on the disc bullshit on MKX. Yet I still find myself enjoyed playing it otherwise. MK9 on the other hand is my favorite second to MKIII.

I still consider you have to be good, to beat Shao Khan "like a man" in MK9 on the hardest mode. His "invulnerabillity" moments were quite annoying if I remember correctly. I do know how to dode his shit and still land hits. Its when getting close he becomes a pain in the ass for me. Even though I loved MK9 I still didn't play it as often and I wasn't really that good online either. I do agree that the first few games were the best. But thats because I remember them in a great nostalgic way. Also, I might be mistaken the term "hardcore"in your eyes. But I'm not a casual gamer anymore, let alone hardcore. Wife and job take priority above any day.

One thing I'd have liked is for Liu Kang to always retain the butterfly kick+uppercut as a fatality but with it having the special ability of triggering stage fatalities of pits and such. Shame that idea didn't ever reach the creators.

You have to figure out how to beat each character with Liu, I've never made it passed the mirror match The CPU will upper cut you out of a flying kick directly after a block (which you can't do) and throwing it is nearly impossible it'll cancel yours and throw you. It can also throw you out of an attack. This seems TAS to me with the buffered fireballs and whatnot.

@@jaredt2590 I main Raiden on SNES and sometimes the CPU throws me when I'm doing the thunder fly attack. I can't get past Liu Kang who loves to abuse his crouch fireball, and if I try to get close to the CPU, I get thrown to oblivion, so I'm forced to spam lightning and thunder fly with the occasional jump kick.
