When it first came out, it was like an urban legend. “Hey there’s this arcade machine down at the mall where you can knock people off a bridge into a pit of spikes. Theres this guy that blows your head off with electricity, and another guy that punches people in the nuts” There was so much crazy shit packed into one game it was unbelievable at the time. The competitor was Street Fighter, still a great game, but it was a saturday morning cartoon compared to this.

Easily my favorite game of the series. The newer games have more features and are more polished, but the simplicity of this one is what makes it awesome. Side note: I never noticed that Shang Tsung's head turns as the fight moves across the screen. Not in the Courtyard stage but the other one.

The best Johnny Cage in MK till this day in my opinion. He was well rounded and technical. Cage was toned down in the latter games. I was shocked that in MK Trilogy you coulnt switch to MK1 Cage. This Cage will probably never come back. Best Cage ever.

Shang Tsung wasn't intend to transform to other characters in the first place. The memory was quiet full so he lent the moves from other characters to save storage. This lead to his abilities and his storyline.

Just like in the 1995 movie, in the games Johnny is not just an actor, he's also quite a competent martial artist (in fact without that aspect Shang Tsung would never have invited him to the tournament). Another thing is that by his appearance and his attitude it does not seem that he was more than an actor. 2. Although that would be included later in the lore, but Raiden reveals that he is a descendant of an ancient cult of warriors destined to be protectors of the earth and hence the green aura he uses. Also don't forget that he was only able to defeat Shinnok who is a God and in principle more dangerous than Shang Tsung.

11:53 And so Johnny Cage hits Goro right in the groin to the point where he retaliates out of desperation by jumping right onto Johnny Cage's body at the moment he wins a flawless victory where he jumps back away from him afterwords and falls on the ground due to how really bad his groin hurts as if the four-armed Shokan Warrior just wasn't able to take the immense pain anymore. Johnny Cage then gets right back up at the exact moment when Goro falls on his back as if nothing happened despite having his body stomped upon, putting on his shades which still remains in one piece and looking awesome for his flawless victory pose right afterwords. Jean-Claude Van Damme would be very proud in a very virtuous way. And as for Goro, it's safe to say he felt utterly humiliated after his defeat and had nightmares of Johnny Cage ever since. Ohhh yeah!
