Amazing work, everyone! Also, really appreciate the talking along sections. They're just that little bit ore engaging than a musical montage and it does make a difference.

Great work team cave, now as the precious owner my intention was to get it running with an Amiga setup, but so many steps to get there and then show it off at the events, however only managed to get it running with Jamma at one event and talked about its history. At that point I saw you mention that you had purchased an A.S.S. and thought that maybe you should finish (or start) this project. An incredible amount of work indeed and first time ever I seen the animation with the girl in, I don’t think I seen her in MAME. So yes I didn’t realise their was another coin/audio board inside and the Jamma wiring colours were crazy. Two comments, if you look in the Electrochoice manual you should see JAMMA, I don’t think the cabinet was converted. The other thing was buttons, was a shame to do plastic but I was hoping u was going come up with buttons to fit in each circle and then not cut the laminate holes and somehow make it flat but then the pattern band would have not working. Repairing as u did on the glass made this another way would arise. In very happy with how it’s come out. Hopefully the cave dwellers will enjoy it as much as I did

Seeing you in a hoodie instead of tweed, it's like you and Modern Vintage Gamer are slowly merging into one. 80% of my KZbin viewing seems to be middle aged balding men with beards, who talk about retro computers.

Coming down to visit The Cave is seriously high up on my bucket list. You keep adding the coolest things I never even knew existed. Bit of a trek from Norway but would be the coolest thing ever if you ask me.
@brianlawhorn97733 сағат бұрын
It is absolutely worth it to make the trek there. It was one of the highlights of my time in England, and for me was certainly worth the 10+ hours of flights to get to England.

Personally I would have preferred to stick a metal plate on the back of the button holes then fill them with filler then paint to match the panel.

That’s an option
@JMurdochNZ5 сағат бұрын
That would be better but very hard to get right especially with one of the holes passing through that red band.

I'm sure the pressure of "just get it working so the kids pump money into it again" was a very different working environment to our setting

Great work; it's so cool that you now have a one-of-a-kind original in that cabinet. Everything about your collective's success is very inspiring.

Another great project done. The Museum is really getting a comprehensive range of the second tier stuff that you never see or gets saved usually. The first vid of yours I saw was the Neon review. You have come a long way. Well done.

Don't old mills normally have a loading window and beam to get things in. Like houses have in Amsterdam.

On photos from the ‘80s there is but at some point it has been removed, bricked up and replaced with a window

looks great and nice work reconstructing this rare and interesting to see this amiga based arcade! would have just put black buttons in rather than the blanking plates.
@RMCRetro7 сағат бұрын
That’s an idea. We have a lot of younger people who visit who have never experienced an arcade. From observing visitors people can quickly become frustrated and walk away from a system if it doesn’t behave as expected, additional buttons might cause confusion.

Is there anywhere in the mill suitable for a goods lift?

We have a half height goods lift to the first floor only. As a Grade II listed building it’s tricky to make such changes

I don't know if anyone is familiar with the US TV show "Friends," but there is a scene in one episode that came to mind when Neil was struggling to get the cabinet up the staircase and he mentioned "pivoting it". The scene is where they are trying to get a very large sofa up a staircase, and when it gets stuck, the character "Ross" keeps yelling "pivot, pivot, ...". It's a very funny and famous scene in the US.
@Dazreil9 сағат бұрын
Every time I’ve helped my brother move and we’re getting a sofa in or out we shout “pivot” to each other

At least it wasn't like the Laurel&Hardy film "The Music Box" where they spend a ludicrous amount of time hauling a piano up a huge flight of stairs. 😂🤣

Yes, from the title alone an amiga based arcade system was always going to be shit (that's why there are so few knocking about) a bit like the CD32 an awful idea!
