Hertfordshire Village Walks. Part 8: Codicote, Whitwell and Ayot St. Lawrence.

This walk takes Sylvie and I from the village of Codicote, in West central Hertfordshire, across the Mimram Valley to the charming little village of Ayot St. Lawrence. Here we stop for a drink at the very popular pub, The Brocket Arms, before exploring sights in the village, including the home of its famous resident, the playwright, George Bernard Shaw. We also visit the two churches in the village, one in ruins and the newer one that replaced it. We then walk across country to the village of Whitwell, where we stop at the village's famous Watercress Farm. From there we head back to Codicote.

Every time I watch these village walks, I feel I am watching the beauty of paradise. Glorious content covering the beautiful villages. Pop star's residence, amazing vehicles in the farm yard, TV commercial pub, heartbreaking story of the ruined church, Shaw's corner, new church, Queen's coronation in 1953, grazing cows, Apple tree in the pub, Judas Tree, grapes vines and amazing fields. Every scene is an ultimate pleasure to watch. Keep it up.

Thank you for helping to show people what a fantastic County Hertfordshire is for walking. During the Covid/Furlough/Lockdown times we had two of my Grandchildren living with us (long story), and I used the opportunity post "Home Learning" to introduce them the the love of walking. As a resident of Knebworth, the Codicote/Ayot/Whitwell area was used many times (and with many route variations). I note how many paths you use are sections of the Hertfordshire Way; two years ago with a friend, and between locdowns we completed the Hertfordshire Way and are now doing it again but in the Clockwise (backwards) direction LOL. I do need to show you the nice routes between Codicote and Whitwell that avoid the road! Please keep up the videos

Hertfordshire is very underrated county. I thought I knew it thoroughly well, but with your videos, there is always a new little gem of backstory even with places I consider familiar. Please never stop making these for as long as your legs serve you well.
